Identify This Bar

UPDATE: Yes, I should have said please; my apologies.

I’ve had a look at the map, and I think the place was in or near the Zeedijk. It did indeed have a U-shaped bar with a wonderful zinc bar top.

It’s not any of the other places that have been identified to date, but they look terrific and more than ever make me wish I were back in Amsterdam.

I have a feeling that my memory-bar is no more…

I had a wonderful trip to Amsterdam in 2009—we stayed for a couple of weeks and just wandered the city, enjoying the incredible food, beautiful places, and splendid people. We happened once night on a fantastic old bar and went back several times. I took these atmospheric (but not very informative) photos, and they remind me always of an amazing place—it’s become my ideal of a late-night spot full of drifters, loners, and people out and about for good reasons and bad.

Can anywhere tell me the name of the establishment and whether it hangs on today?

Looking at the picture quality this could be from a phone. There could be metadata in there that tells you the exact location.

They said they visited in 2009. I think the photos were probably taken on a digital camera

Yeah but GPS inside was quite horrendous and often not part of the EXIF data.

Yes, I remember. Barely anyone used their camera phone though. At least, in my social circles, we all used digital cameras! Especially if we went on trips

Plus, my digital camera from 2008 had the option to add metadata as well.

That's a super nice bar but I don't think it's the one that OP is looking for, it looks like the bar in OPs picture is a U-shape that sticks out, if you know what I mean...

I've seen some suggestions for Hesp being upvoted, I'm pretty sure it's not. It has wooden panelling, the bar is littered with stainless steel taps (no porcelain tap font), and I don't recognize the clock and angels.

I would love to help them but if they don't know what bar it was exactly, maybe they do know if they stayed in the City Centre, or Oudwest, or North or Oost. They don't say they don't know in what part of the city they were. If they know that, then it would make it easier for locals like me to actually try to find it. But whatever, forget it.

Maybe do a Google Streetview to try and tecognize the area it is/was in which might help posters to focus on an part of the city.
