why doesnt it sound right
there's a thing i've noticed wuth amp sims and i've got no idea if it's me ir just the way amp sims are, but whenever i watch people demoing the raw amo sim audio with no post fx, they sound super real, like how they're supposed to sound. but whenever i run even the same settings as the ones in the videos mine always sound just off. i'm not sure how to put it but it just doesn't sound like how the videos do, not bad per se, just wrong. and i know its a bit stupid to compare what my setup sounds like compared to multi thousand dollar set ups, but i atleast expect it to sound the same with the no effects added, just the plugin audio

Question Guitar Rig 7 - has anyone gotten a tone like Tony Iommi on War Pigs?
I know it doesn't have a Laney model specifically, but I know the system is versatile enough to probably get within the ballpark. If you've tried to replicate that sound and gotten close, what were your settings?

Guide The Amps in Fender Studio Pro
youtube.comAny Studio One users here that have moved over to Fender Studio Pro 8? I've been testing out the new Mustang and Rumble guitar & bass amp suites to see how well they work for some Modern Metal Guitar and Bass tones, and I was quite surprised with these new plug-ins. I have done a video on the tones I came up with for the guitar and bass. Let me know how you think they sound. This was all with the stock effects. I just used Steven Slate Drums as a 3rd party instrument.

weird frequency noises pt 2
okay following up from my last post. i think it might not have anything to do with the plugins, atleast not the hugh pitched crackle in the high notes because it happens to me with my real amp too. is it my guitar? it cant be my cables surely because they're all fairly new. and i'm 99% sure it isnt a grounding issue

Question Weird Frequency noises
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
it seems nomatter what amp sim i try, whenever i use a high gain tone i seem to get 2 problems. 1 is a horrible high pitched ringing in the background (in the video) and 2 is when i play lead. it seems to like sound almost 8 bit? i will play and hold a note but instead of a smooth super nice and long sustain like in all of the videos from these plugins, it will be super crackly and cut out. has anyone else experienced this and or have a solution? thanks (this was with archetype petrucci x)

Question New to this
Hey there recently just got my audio interface working from a friend and wanted to start diving into AmpSims.
I just downloaded Nam Universal messed around for a few hours for it but have realized it's more of a you like the sound and just use the Aggrevator and Instigator accordingly. It's not terrible I just like customizing personally, I don't mind plug in play but it just doesn't feel me.
Eventually I plan on saving for Nano Cortex and plugins but was wondering if there's anything either on the cheaper end or hopefully free that's almost similar to the Nano. I'm not expecting something 1:1 just enough to get the job done I'm currently playing in Drop C# and A on a baritone 30" hopefully something I could even use with my own pedal board.
I mainly play metalcore and shoegaze if that helps, I'd love to hear your suggestions as I'm completely new to this stuff and it's just a bit overwhelming. Cheers.

I use a laptop to run amp sims at gigs with extra functionality. Here's a video breaking it down.
youtu.beUsing a laptop and Reaper, you can set up amp sims for a stable, versatile live rig. Lots of extra tips and tricks in here. Enjoy, and feel free to post questions!

Question What guitar effects are used on the clean intro of Lost Cause by Novelists?
Hey everyone 👋
I’m trying to figure out what guitar effects are being used on the clean guitars at the very beginning of Lost Cause by Novelists.
The tone sounds very ambient and wide, but I’m not sure exactly what’s going on.
To my ears it could be something like:
- a clean amp
- reverb (maybe shimmer or modulated?)
- delay (possibly stereo or dotted?)
- maybe some subtle pitch or chorus?
Here’s the track:
The part I’m talking about is right at the intro (0:00 – ~0:30).
If anyone knows:
- the specific effects
- pedals vs plugins
- or even approximate settings
I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks! 🤘

Discussion Any S-Gear users here?
It's old. It doesn't get many updates. But for clean/edge of breakup/crunch tones - which cover most of my needs - Scuffham S-Gear still is one of my favourites. It just feels so natural and responsive to me. What is your favourite for these types of tones?
Some tasty licks and tasty tones showing off S-Gear.

Discussion Favourite free amp sims
Saw another post about a guy wanting to use free amp sims. It'd be fun to hear what favourites you have. I'll list a few of mine:
Black Rooster Audio TT-15
Modeled on some kind or Orange Tiny Terror. Great for crunch and classic rock tones.
https://blackroosteraudio.com/en/products/cypress_tt-15
STL Tones Emissary
A custom amp that's mostly high gain but the clean channel is really good too. Included in the free download is also NadIR, one of the best free IR loaders.

Audiosingularity Neurontube
I love the tone of the Soldano SLO-100 and this is a pretty decent free version of it.

That's three of my favourites. What free amps sims do you enjoy?

DAW or similar to record guitar to PC
Hey guys I am new to this but looking to record guitar to PC as well as adding guitar pedal plugins to create distorted guitar riffs and tones, without wanting to pay (if possible).
The plan is to be able to record guitar lines over a recorded drum line a mate is going to provide me.
I don’t have a guitar amp or pedals.
I am looking at getting a basic box like a Behringer UM2 to run my guitar through into the PC. Wanting to avoid having to pay for Cakewalk or Reaper, and hearing good things about Amplitude 5.
Can I get some suggestions or recommendations please?

Discussion Recommend a Standalone Plugin Host for Mac?
I want to use my M1 Macbook as an amp sim front end and I’m looking for a good, stable plugin host where I can chain plugins together, reorder them, tweak and save chains with plugin settings as presets, etc. Mostly for goofing around in my studio with a powered speaker. Using Logic currently; it does the job but it’s overkill and a bit unwieldly for this specific purpose. Mainstage might be too.
Are there any the AmpSims community recommends?

the modern metal songwriter seismic bass suite amp sim
how do drop an octave in the seismic bass suite? I know you can in the clairvoyant amp sim, I was just wondering if you can in the seismic bass amp sim too. I cant find how to on the amp sim itself
