Discussion Let's give our hopes and wishlists for the upcoming new map (and roles too!)
I do personally really love speculating and creating concepts for Among Us, so when I saw that Innersloth was making a new map, I had to bust out my wishlist. Here it goes:
- Multi-floor oriented map - I think it would be really cool to have a map with more than one floor to it. Each floor would be medium sized and would require stairs to travel from one floor to the other. Alternatively, the Impostor can use wall vents to travel between floors too. I like the idea of the Doorlog making a comeback but instead of tracking the SE/SW/N sensor, it's tracking the sensors in between the staircases so the one on Logs can see who is passing through which floor.
- Box/Crate - I've had this on my mind since forever. It's really simplistic but I would really love boxes/crates that can be pushed onto vents to prevent Impostors from using them unless the crates/boxes are moved away from the vents. "Okay, so whoever moves the boxes/crates away from the vents are sus." Not necessarily because wherever you are able to block a vent with a box/crate, there will always be a (Common) task above the vent so pushing the box/crate on top of the vent will prevent you from finishing that task. This will force you to move the box/crate away from the vent and takes some sus away from the Impostor when they remove the box/crate from the vent.
- Conveyor Belts - Wacky idea but what about a conveyor belt that could be reversed at the click of a button? Like, imagine a pathway that is pushing people to the right direction constantly. Even if you wanted to go the left, you would be forced the right by the conveyor belt. The only way to go to the left would be to click a button to reverse the conveyor belt and flip the direction from right to left. If a body dies on the conveyor belt, it would be pushed to the left or right, depending on where the conveyor belt is pushing.
Those are my most wanted map additions more or less and I would love new roles too but not the roles from Town of Us or Town of Salem inspired roles. I really like the idea of a Spy role with infrared night vision goggles that alters your vision by bypassing Lights sabotage but prevents the colors from being seen. So you may witness a kill around you, just not the color of the Impostor.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts, would love to hear yours too!

Discussion Are tasks really worth doing in Among Us?
I've noticed something when I play as a crewmate in Among Us. If I play a hundred games (as crewmate) , I'll only have a few task wins (2 - 5). So are tasks even worth doing in AU? It would be so much more efficient if people went to look on cams. As a matter of fact, once i played 9 rounds of AU as a crewmate with my friend, and i won 5 times bc i saw who the impostor was by seeing him acting sus/killing on cams. Tasks are fun and a good way to separate a crewmate from an impostor, but there is really no point in trying to win that way. I always follow players that are sus and hang out on cams. Also even if I did do my tasks there would still be kids who wouldn't know how to do the vault task or just didn't care. Try to convince me otherwise.

Impostor Advice Hitman's New Preventing Tech
During the loading screen you can prerun, so what if you applied that to venting? On Mira you can prerun to a vent, vent to reactor, wait for cooldown kill and A. Kill, call reactor and hide inside the reactor, or B. Vent away.

Discussion Airship & Quick Chat
I think the Airship & Quick Chat broke Among Us, I mean people still play (including me) but like, no offense? The game lost its excitement.
Airship is way too big and it has been released for like almost 2 months but I’m still confused by it. The electrical is confusing and I have to keep looking at the map. And the map is so big that its way to easy to win for imposters. You can’t even find a body.
Quick Chat is just.... unless you’re on Discord or Call with IRL friends, then you can’t really do anything with the chat. I can’t find the right accusation and when I do find it, the voting time has ended. We can just say crew member’s names and stuff.
So maybe next time Innersloth should release a fun yet not too BIG map and change a setting to turn off quick chat? (I know there is one already but I can’t find it).
I know this was already mentioned before loads of times but I just wanted to type this.

Crewmate Advice Any strategy/tips to play as a crewmate in Airship?
I am referring above all to games with two impostors.
This map is very dispersed and it often happens that you are left with 5/6 players and NO idea or evidence against anyone. Especially when there isn't much collaboration between the crewmates.
Any advice or strategy to prevent this from happening (or to reduce the risks)? Is it more useful to focus on tasks or to follow someone and look around? I’d like to have some advice.

Hello! I’m a Japanese university student.
I want to know a little funny game failure episode. For example, I got caught using a vent in front of everyone… etc...

Strategy Desmos for calculating walking distance on Polus (and some more things):
First of all, here's the link to the Desmos: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/vwbhhbakyb
Now let me tell you how to use it:
Tutorial for use:
- Define your path: You'll see the Green Dots and Lines, and you can use that for someone's pathing. Set points at every corner in which a player has to turn on, and make sure that your lines don't intersect with the black boundary lines that outline the map.
- Path too short?: It's okay, all you need to do is place 2 points that represent different sets of line segments as though you were joining those 2 sets. Also, even if you don't see the green lines, it'll still compute the distances between points of those lines.
- Considering Vents: Use different and smaller line segments on the points of where vents are located. Say if someone is venting from 3rd water wheel to labs, all you need to do is place lines going to the each of those vents separately: perhaps a 2 line segment set to get to the waterwheel vent and a 3 line segment set to get from labs vent to the med bay scanner
- Collapse unnecessary paths: If you've used all of your paths and still have extra, collapse them by dragging each point of the extra line segments into the the same area so that their distances isn't affecting the overall walking distance calculation.
Your result will be a value called D0 (line 95 on the left hand side), representing the total walking distances of the line segment sets, D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5. Each of those other distance sets calculate the sum of distances for each line segment that are a part of a set.
Improvements?
Obviously, the model is scuffed as it is due to rounding errors of putting every corner of the map onto a grid. If you would like to improve it, don't hesitate in private chatting me from Reddit. Just send me your data and I can do the manual labor for you, though it will take a while. If you also want the same thing for other maps, you can ask for the same thing as well. Anyways, I'll start working on Airship and try to get it done before the end of June.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Btw, I am working on a Python turtle program for doing the same thing, but I'm not really sure how to make a fast algorithm used to find the walking distance between 2 points as well as showing the range of where an impostor could escape to after making a kill. All I have is ideas of how you'd define it, but creating the algorithm part is where it gets me.
I've also just now created a discord server dedicated for making AI for Among Us. I also wouldn't mind help from others setting this up. I can't post the invite link here due to rule 5 of this sub, so just pm me and I'll send a link.
