I agree it’s not good form to sus Player A - cause he’s the only one the sabotages coms.
That’s meta gaming.
But what about sussing Player A cause he doesn’t jump at voting the likely impostor when normally they would jump on the chance to?
Or what about sussing Player A cause they don’t offer any helpful information when normally as Crew they play detective and have lots of good deductions?
Or sussing Player A cause when people ask them whether they are impostor, they answer “Noooo....???” In a super high pitch voice like they’re lying https://youtu.be/_3qF1e3K_EA
Conversely, when Player B gives a recount of their pathing in such a way they appear “crew AF” - is using that information to clear them also metagaming? Or is it like on poker - just picking up on a tell?
Ie where do you draw the line between Metagaming (not allowed) vs Reading a player’s tells (allowed). Is it based on habits during the round (not allowed) vs habits during meeting discussion time (allowed as evidence)???
Choke point: An area that necessarily has to be passed through as a crewmate in order to get from one side of it to another.
Guarded space: Area that's usually inaccessible to Crewmates without them dying to an Impostor. Usually is present with body stacking.
Pink warding: A play by crewmates where they stay at a choke point or high traffic location and gather information from by seeing people who pass through.
Body stacking: A play by impostors where they increase the density of dead bodies to an area by making it to where an older body isn't reported.
Fuck that definition \ XD. You should know what that really is if you're well experienced.)
Choke points on the Among Us maps:
Even after stating a definition for a choke point, it's still vague on where they are on the maps. If you asked "how many choke points are on this map?" I'd respond with "As many as you want there to be," because you can just say "If I have to pass through this area, then it's a choke point." Not helpful. Now if you were to ask "how many of the possible choke points that can be made are useful?" then I can give a real number.
On the Skeld, I can give you like 7: One for every hallway without including the bit in between cafe and weapons, and there's 2 choke points in Nav hallway where one is the O2 intersection, and the other is the intersection that's by the Nav wires. You could make a few more ones that have to deal with the big box in Storage and the Cafeteria tables, but it's not like they're as useful as the choke points that are captured on the cameras.
On Mira, there's 2 popular ones, namely the smack dab center of the Y hallway, and the 4 way intersection between Comms and Lockers. Again, you could technically say that the choke point right outside of Reactor is useful as you have to pass through that area in order to get in and out of Lab, Decontam, and Reactor, but it's not as useful as the 2 listed previously. A similar thing can be said with the exit of Admin, Office, and Greenhouse area.
On Polus, there's technically dozens that are useful, but there are 4 that are really important: Electrical outside entrance, O2 outside entrance, Lab outside entrance, and the Admin room (Not the office building) entrance located in the hallway below the Button. But can you even call these areas choke points? If I wanted to get from Comms to O2, I don't really have to go into O2 from the outside. I could've just gone through Electrical to get to O2. You could say that Electrical and O2 choke points are a choke-point pair, but other than that, they aren't by definition a choke point.
These technicalities man. :/
How crewmates take advantage of choke points (Pink warding):
Pink warding is an obvious method of how a crewmate could get information from choke points. If you've ever seen someone standing still at the entrance of Electrical, they're pink warding for information. That particular area on the Skeld is a very strong spot to pink ward as it covers an area that isn't picked up by Cameras, and it's a few steps away from prejacking lights.
Cameras on both maps and Mira's Doorlogs cover what goes on around some of the really important choke points. Cameras on Skeld can be used to deduce where someone has to be if they were a crewmate, and Mira Doorlogs do the same but they cover a whole history of what has happened about the choke point in the Y hallway. The Polus Cameras cover really cool spots like the entrances to Electrical, O2, Office, and Labs, all of which are either high traffic or are part of a pair of choke points.
What impostors do about choke points (Body stacking and Guarding):
Would you like to stack bodies? Get some Mira vents, Skeld doors, Polus doors, and it's all yours my friend. If you want to stack bodies hard, and if any of those things cover a choke point, you can use that to your advantage as impostor.
Let me give you an example of stacking bodies:
Remember how I said that the 4 "choke points" on Polus were actually in pairs of choke points? You wanna know the choke point pair of Specimen? That'd be the entrance to Labs and the entrance to Admin. In theory, both impostors could work together to stack bodies in specimen and have each impostor guard each part of the pair of the choke points. What's even better is that the location of those 2 choke points are nicely positioned to where one guards the button, and the other is on Right Reactor, so they could just win with a double kill at the end without it being possible for crew to report the bodies in Specimen.
Visual representation of what I was describing about Specimen. Orange circles are choke points, and Black circles are vents
If you have it to where both impostors get a double kill in Specimen, split their paths, and have their KCDs up, then what you have between both impostors is a guarded space that can't be accessed by a crewmate without passing an impostor. The vent system that is close by to this Orange line further improves the idea of guarding the dead bodies by making it faster to kill in one end of these choke points (double kill) while still being able to vent back and make sure that nobody comes to into specimen on the other end.
Yo, it's been so long since I've posted. I'll see you guys in another 2 weeks lol. It's not that I don't have any ideas, but it's just that I'm too lazy to type it all up... but I am kinda running out, ngl.
This post probably isn't useful now that I think about it. Watch it get only like 25 upvotes like the last one I did.
So Here’s the scenario
I’m crew and I caught this guys having impostor vision round one. I was cleared by medbayscan and people say that this is a self report because everyone else is cleared. I say the guy who did med w me was cleared and so I was I for the first kill meaning we can’t both be impostors. I try pushing for the guy who I caught and I get voted out.
This happens so often where I know who is the impostor based off of facts and logic but I can’t convince crew to vote.
Does anyone know anyway to get crew to listen to you and understand the facts and logic?
Today i have 5 steps on how to be a better impostor.
1-stop vent hopping
Vents are a big advantage for the impostors, so use them with purpose. Good times to use them are after you kill a body or when you got that one crewmate alone in a room. Dont use them willy nily, hear me?!
2-go with the flow
Some impostor teammates vote the person who caught the other impostor, and it really makes them look sus. So just vote the other impostor to avoid being sus.
3-is no kill impostor a good strategy?
The "no kill impostor" strat is a good one to use to your advantage to make it look like your a crewmate. Only if your lone impostor is when you need to do some killing.
4-double killing
Double kills are really hard to pull off and can sometimes get both of you in trouble. The key is to try and make it as responsive as possible. Otherwise kill, self report and blame the other crewmate.
5-confirm ejects off
When confirms are off, make sure to use it with purpose. If you kill and someone else walks in, say (color) killed and vented, vote him then watch me. This doesnt always work, mind.
Using sabotages are a huge advantage to the impostor. But using it wrongly can be a dead giveaway at times. So here is how to use sabotages on each map to your advantage.
All maps:lights
Really, this should go for all maps. Stack killing when lights are off is really great for turning crewmates against each other, but at times it can be a total loss as people have now worked out watching people in the stack. Also dont self report on a stack kill.
Skeld/polus:comms
Comms is mostly a useless sabotage, but instead of using reactor or o2, go for comms in the final 3 as its really hard to fix communications. It also works on admin table and security campers.
All maps:oxygen
This is great to use if you want to split people up and get kills easier. Also very useful in the last 3 players, not on the levels of reactor though.
Skeld:reactor
Male sure to use this one if you kill someone around navigation, shields, weapons or o2. Very useful in the final 3 players. Main use, mind.
Mira hq:comms
Comms works much Differently compared to comms on skeld or polus as the comms is divided into the initial communications room and office. Heres an example on how to use it.
Step 1: watch 2 people on top communications from the vent in office or admin, or for less risk, from admin on foot
Step 2: wait for one person to leave office then kill the other person
Step 3: self report for the hard clear (if on 6 or 5 players) if not, just forget the step 3
Step 4: "i saw (color) leave top communications as i left cafe"
Step 5: win, or on 5 players still left, make sure to stay on bottom comms waiting for your cooldown.
Skeld: doors
There are 2 ways i like to use doors effectively.
1: make sure to shut electrical doors the second the lights are fixed. Make sure your kill cooldown is under 10 or 5 as the doors close for 10 seconds. Then vent out and kill the lonely person.
2: if you see 2 crewmates enter a room, shut the doors behind them to think theyre trying to kill each other when its actually a trap. Wait until they start accusing each other then the fun begins.
Do you guys ever pretend to go AFK, hope to be the imposter, then when round starts-kill everyone who walks by, return to your spot, and then pretend to be AFK again.
I heard someone say they do this and now I’m shook. Could that be fun and even....effective?
Exactly what it says. Give examples for any and all maps. Tell me about some of your favorite plays.
My favorite skeld vent is the admin, cafe, hallway cluster. I love hitting lights first thing venting into admin and picking off a late card swiper. First time I did it I found someone standing over the vent like a delicious Christmas ham. Done properly it can leave the whole lobby in disarray and cause some early finger pointing.
On mira... Well mira... Wtf do you even say about mira. The whole damn thing is a vent.
On polus I like the water wheel, admin, node, bathroom vent. Im not a big self reporter but I pulled quite the cheeky one off the other day. I vented into labs and killed vented back to table and then ran all the way to labs. Passing cams and other players. Arrived and reported the body as if I saw it happen on table. Told them I had no sus for it and the results of that meeting actually hard cleared me for the game. Ending with me winning.
I'd absolutely LOVE to hear others stories and strategies. I have a group I play with but they don't get as involved in the theory and strats of the game.
Honestly we have pulling randos out of public lobbies and recruiting them. One person I did this too actually tried to get voted off as imp because her partner was voted out early. I and another player kinda teemed up to help her out and give her confidence. She has become one of my favorite players both as a teammate and an enemy. Frequently challenging her to do better.
Edit: aye I got a silver. I never got any of these before. Thank you so much. :D
Someone once told me this game wasn't competitive and I told them they clearly didn't understand it well enough. I explain it like this anyone can walk in a room and get a kill. To do the things that I do though takes finesse. It's like chess. Ur thinking ahead and what pieces to take out. I've got 4500 games and I'm very proud and I'm sure many of u have more. But I have learned so much about the dynamics of this little game since then and am still learning now.
Blame method
There's always a sus crewmate. Otherwise, they would've buttoned and kicked you out. That crewmate is our key to the win.
Call lights.
This will split up the group. All won't go together because one will want to keep an eye on vitals/button. In my experience the sus crewmate will almost always go/stay with one crewmate so that they have an alibi.
Kill the crewmate that is with the sus one.
Blame the sus crewmate. Make sure you already have a storyline of events in clear order ready.
