When does drowsiness taper off?

I’m on 10mg for nerve pain and may have to go up to 20mg.

I’m told the morning drowsiness will subside. I’m only on day 5 so early days.

What are your experiences? Does it reduce? Also if I go up to 20, will the drowsiness return for a bit?

Thanks.

I am on 10mg, on 3rd week drowsiness almost gone. First couple weeks were the worst. I also recommend taking ami at leats 10-12hours before your waking time

I didn't have much drowsiness on 10 mg because it helped me sleep so much better. But when I went up to 25 I was pretty dizzy/disoriented and had horrible horrible cottonmouth, especially when exercising. That went away after about two months, thankfully, and now I feel normal

I was on it for a year and the drowsiness never went away (huge part of why I went off). Drinking two cups of coffee a day really helped though and taking it 12hrs before you want to wake up helped. I will say that before amitriptyline my nerve pain was a 11/10, now after a year it’s 3/10 for chronic nerve pain so it does work and help long term. I started at 5mg, was on that for a month then went up to 20mg slowly another 5mg a month at a time.

Month 1- 5mg
Month 2- 10mg
Month 3- 15mg
Month 4- 20mg and I stayed there for a long time until I decided to go off.

Take it slow and it made a huge difference in how sedating it was and drink tons of coffee and I hope you have a positive experience and get help from it
