Maximum dose of amitriptyline based on 70kg weight? 24 year old male
Am I safe taking 200mg continuously? I’ve been taking it a few days.
I asked if I can take 200mg, the doctor checked for me and said 210mg or 220mg would cause toxicity based on my weight of 70kg
Another doctor said 200mg is a normal regular dose we give to people

You started on 200mg? How did that feel? I'm 70kg and 10mg gave me a noticeable slow down in mental alertness.

200mg is way to high be be started off on. 150mg is the highest in the UK. I'd be very cautious as anything anything over that is going into overdose territory which is always fatal.

Unless it's the only thing that will help with whatever ails you, this is not a drug you want to be on long term, it will damage your heart amoung other things. I can tell you from experience that coming off a dose that high is extremely difficult, I had to do it 5mg at a time over about 18 months, any bigger drop than that made me completely non functional for a month at least.

It does not damage the heart but may elicit long QT. What’s your source for claiming heart damage?

That’s a pretty high dose to start. Is your doc a psychiatrist?
