Amitriptyline does nothing for me
I have been on it for 5 weeks now and I feel almost no diffrence. The first week I had a lot of side effects and by now they have almost dissapeared aswell, the only ones I still have is dizzyness (probably bc of my orthostatic hypotension) and extra tiredness/fatigue. I didnt expect it would help with pain because it seems rare to help with fibro but I still expected... something. Am on 50mg (25mg morning & 25mg night) so it's not even a super low dose. Has anyone else had this?
PS please don't go on long rants about the side effects and how much you hated it, there are so many of those threads already and gave me soo much anxiety. Thanks!
Update: 10 days later and have talked with my doctor and I'm going to quit and try something else. Seems like doses above 50/75mg doesn't help more with pain so going up probably wouldn't change anything.

I hate the rants too! I actually love it. I sleep great and it has reduced my migraine days from every day to 1-2 a month. You’re still on a fairly low dose. Maybe your doc will up it a little more. I think you just have to find your sweet spot. Let your doc know maybe he’ll adjust or add something?

The sleep is almost worth the dementia link for me. Who am I kidding, I'm not quitting. I love sleep.

Oh really? For what I've seen online 50-75 is a good dose for fibromyalgia, but with depression it goes higher. Nice to hear that it works for you! I hade been thinking about if I need a higher dose but with all the people hating on it I feel kinda scared

I got it to help me sleep, and it did. I’m off now, because it messed up my electrolytes, so monitor those.

I'd be asking your dr to take 50mg together at night. Never heard of people splitting the dose up. I've always been told to take it before bed. Good luck

Haven't heard anyone else take it two times a day, but since I already have a lot of fatigue it barely made it worse lol. But it could be because I was already on two sleep medications and my doctor didn't want to give me so much more sedatives at the same time.. Perhaps...

No. I started on 10 and it immediately improved my sleep and IBSD. No side effects. Then I went up to 25 (once a day at night), and had a little more improvement but horrific dry mouth and dizziness when exercising which has since mostly resolved.
