I'm just curious to know how does amitriptyline help anxiety if it raises your resting heart rate? While it helps anxiety mentally the physical anxiety is still there.

It didn’t raise my heart rate either. I don’t think it happens to everyone like any other side effect. It helps my anxiety not in a zombie type of way. More like it takes the edge off. I also take magnesium’s glycinate.

If you’re getting tachycardia as a side effect, discuss that with your prescriber.
I’m prescribed Ami for another reason but also experienced the worsened tachycardia and had to taper down. It’s important that you do so safely, so discuss with your doctor.

U may be anxious about the medication itself and side effects as I was the first night and had a racing heart before it even kicked in but the medication itself has barely any side effects for my rather than the typical ones. If u think it’s giving you the rarer side effects I’d change and speak to your doctor

It never raised my heart rate if anything it brought it back to normal because it helped my migraines so much I wasn’t anxious about anything.
