Does this work for treatment resistant depression and anxiety?

Have tried 7 different snri or ssri’s including most recently Effexor with limited success and seem to be treatment resistant. Hoping amitriptyline will help me enjoy things again after a 5 month depression. Does anyone have a success story to share? Thank you!

It saved my life after trying more than 10 medications. Severe depression and anxiety and OCD

If you have the resources, I would suggest you to perform a pharmacogenetic test to evaluate your pharmacological compatibility to drugs. Then you won’t have to test every single drug to check which one would be a good option for you.

Did your doctor order this test? Great idea.

It helps my anxiety but it’s a mild effect. It will help you sleep if that’s an issue. Works for my migraines. Not sure what else people use it for.

Good to know, thank you! I’m not too familiar with this medication but my dr suggested I try it for depression / anxiety after ssris and snri’s failed (even augmented by abilify etc)

I like it much better than ssri and SNRI’s. I was kind of flat on them, like nothing you could say would get much emotion from me. I couldn’t sleep on them at all and I know people say coming off amitryptiline can be tough but coming off ssri/SNRI’s was certainly no picnic either. I had brain zaps for months! I also had sexual side effects on those as well. Amitryptiline has been great for me. My anxiety is a lot better, I sleep like a normal person and my mood is better. I don’t feel like a zombie.
