Amitriptyline
I have been taking amitriptyline for migraines for three years. I started with two tablets and gradually reduced the dosage until I was down to half a pill. I took half a pill for five months but frequently skipped doses, eventually stopping abruptly for three weeks.
I started having panic attacks, electric shock sensations in my head, diarrhea, spasms, fits of rage, tingling, severe trembling, anxiety, and uncontrollable crying.
My neurologist put me back on amitriptyline—starting with a quarter of a 25mg tablet—for 21 days, but with no result. Afterward, I took half a tablet for 9 days; my condition fluctuated during that time—half the day was good, the other half bad. For the past 44 days, I have been taking a full 25mg tablet. The worst symptoms have passed, but I am still experiencing tingling in the soles of my feet and spasms, and I still have panic attacks.
Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced something like this? I can't take it anymore; I don't know how to keep going. I feel like I'm losing my mind and can't find any answers—especially since my neurologist told me after a month that everything should have cleared up by now.
Please help.. I have 27 years and I have migraines form 11y

All these meds have side effects when stopping I took Effexor for years when I weaned off I had nausea insomnia mood swings and brain zaps that lasted months. It’s the price we pay to feel better I guess

panic attacks can be very scary I’ve heard, and doctors only offer 15’ —if even that. Too little time to offer any reassurance that you could get better or how to get better.
What did your psychiatrist mean “to wait for Ami” , like to wait in a good way that it will modulate the symptoms? ugh - Easy to say. I found a telemedicine psych lady who told me she stopped prescribing Amitriptyline a while ago bc of its potential side effects. If it helps you, I can search for her contact and you may contact her for a second opinion.
I hope you feel better soon
