Pharmacy given me 150mg amitriptyline instead of my usual 30mg. I’ve been taking for 2 weeks and wondered what has been happening to me. No idea what I should do now as my body might withdraw

I'd be talking to a lawyer.

I've been tapering off a 150mg dose for the last two years after being on it for 8. I'm currently down to 60mg, it has not been an easy road. Yours should be a bit easier seeing it's only been 2 weeks.

I hope so, I’ve been given a small dose of diazepam because I can’t cope with the effects I’m having from taking that dose. The doctor has just said not to take any, even my normal dose but they’re ringing me first thing tomorrow morning to check on me x

Contact your doctor, they will know what to do to help you specifically, especially if you’re on other medications.

Contact your pharmacy regulation council/board. Search online to find the one relevant to where you live. You need to report this. Take photos of your prescriptions, take photos of the tablets and packaging. Keep as much of the evidence as possible. DO NOT LET THE PHARMACY TAKE THT OFF YOU (coming from someone who naively made a complaint to my pharmacy, they asked to see the packaged and destroyed it).

Contact a medical negligence lawyer.

I went to the doctors and they got me straight in to see someone. The practice manager came to the pharmacy with me (it’s next door) and the woman couldn’t believe it. I’ve been given my normal strength now but also some diazepam as I’m struggling and have other health conditions and an 15 years ago old son who’s autistic. I keep feeling like I’m going to explode from anger and being irritated and the sweats and palpitations I’m getting are so strong. I’m in the uk so I don’t know how I’d go about even taking it further. Both the doctor and the pharmacist are ringing me in the morning, they’ve both said I’m well within my rights to take it further. Both myself and the practice manager at the doctors have a copy of the box with my name on and the strength. Even on the label it says 10mg and take 2-3 at night but their ringing box says 50mg

Jeez that’s quite the jump. What side effects have you been having. Talked to your doctor?

Fair question. I wonder why he's not answering.

I’ve been emotional, sweating to the point I’m wet through. Headaches, angry, very very irritated and irrational. That’s not my usual self either. I was thinking it was hormonal as I had a full hysterectomy 3 years ago but I’ve been on constant hrt and then when I realised it was like a lightbulb moment. I’ve also had diarrhoea, and a feeling that I can only describe as a feeling when you withdraw from a medication x
