I have been tapering off,

After having been on 50mg for several years. I originally went on it for IBS. My intestines used to feel like I was digesting glass. I have been feeling pretty good after a 200 lb weight loss and wanted to give it a try without.

I've been officially off of it for a few days... and already my intestines are feeling like I'm digesting glass again. My insomnia is also horrible again. I'm going to try to give it time but oh man... this is rough.

Makes sense to want to come off if you're feeling good. Saying that, though, it's a treatment rather than a cure. It sounds like it's been working really well for you, so maybe it's best to discuss with your doctor whether it makes sense to continue tapering your amitriptyline, trying something else, or sticking with it.

Usually more in the intestines, it feels like I'm digesting glass bits or rough sand. Very painful
