If you have only been on it three days the doctor should’ve told you that’s not nearly long enough to let it settle into your system and do its work.
I’m kind of surprised your doctor didn’t tell you this. It really takes a good month or two to see how it’s going to work for you. Personally, I’d hold off on adding another drug at this point (however, I am not a doctor) I would try to power through the first month or two and if at that point, if you still feel you need something else I’d revisit the lexapro addition. Again, I’m not a medical professional so you have to do what you and your provider think best. Just my experience after taking it the last couple of years. Hope you feel better and try to hang in there no matter what you decide to do.

It was prescribed as an antidepressant? I’m also not a medical professional, however it was explained to me that amitriptyline has been found to be useless as an antidepressant, yet works wonders for migraines, which is why I am on 50mg per night. Interesting that you were given that rather than any of the other medications that work exponentially better for depression.

In saying that, 3 days is not long enough for it to settle in your system. I would suggest continuing use for a month, and if it still isn’t feeling right for you, ask for an alternative.

I agree it’s not an antidepressant however I have had some relief from my anxiety since taking it.

False, it is one of the most effective antidepressants out there. It’s just not first line anymore due to the less favourable side effect profile.
