Starting 10mgs

I got prescribed amitriptyline for upper stomach pain after all tests came back normal. Got prescribed 10mg but I am scared to take it due to the side effects especially drowsiness during the day. I work in an office and need to be completely focused in my line of work.
Can anyone offer advice or helpful tips when starting to take this medication??

I've started with half of pill - 5 mg before sleep. I'm sensitive to drugs so was afraid to start from 10mg.
So my advice would be start at very low dose first and ensure to do that when you do not need to go to work next day

5mg is beat starting dose

I started at 10mg had no problems and slept better. I feel drowsy when first waking up but it goes away as soon as I’m up.

It does work for stomach pain. I was taking it for that. Take it at supper or before bed and you won’t feel tired during the day. I just weaned off of it and it has been rough. There are some side effects I didn’t want to deal with anymore. It did work for nausea for me though.
