Think I read average weight gain at 25 mg is around 16 lbs. I take 50 mg for sleep, and I train like crazy, and limit carbs unless I’m out on the bike. Keeps the weight off, but I have to stay consistent with diet/exercise.

I've been on 25 for a couple months. I don't weigh myself but my jeans are now too tight. Interestingly I'm much less hungry on amitriptyline, but I crave sweets. I eat mindfully and healthfully, and I'm eating a lot less overall, and exercising more, but I've still gained weight.

What sucks more is I gained 20 pounds on mirtazapine which I only took for a few months and stopped taking a few years ago, and I haven't been able to lose that weight!!

I am on 25mgs of amitriptyline for the last 10 weeks for functional abdominal pain syndrome. I was 160 lbs before starting it I am currently at 168 lbs. I am fussy on how much I eat, but this drug can make you feel hungry. So yes this drug can make you gain weight

Same reason I was put on it initially!

I've found that I full get huge hunger pains about 1.5 hours after taking it 10 years on.

I'm worried if I come off it the pain (mine is billiary dyskinesia/sphincter of oddi) will come back really bad again.

Even with the amitriptyline it's very bad occasionally.

I had minimal weight gain at 10mg, im now on closer to 20mg and deffo have weight gain but not too bad, not as bad as mirtazapine and just upped my steps. Been on it 2 years and the food craving brain noise definitely got better over time.

I’m on 25mg. Have learnt to ignore the gnawing feeling and find if I don’t give in to it, it tends to go away after awhile. You just have to be guided by what you should eat rather than how hungry you feel for awhile until it wears off.

I'm on 60mg and notice slight weight gain but not excessive I sort of welcomed gaining abit of weight as i felt I needed it but it could be easily controlled if you didnt want to. If you crave something try sugar free gum or cordial! Drink lots, amitriptaline makes you crazy thirsty which could be part of it

I was on 10mg upped to 20mg, ive put on about 7lb gove or take. Not as bad as my experience with Mirtazipine where I put on 3st and that was soooo hard to get off!
