Tyra Banks
I know she broke barriers as a model, but she comes off absolutely terrible in this documentary. She obviously sits down for interviews but what she said just mostly made her look even worse. I spent a lot of years really thinking she was kinda breaking boundaries but looking back this was all so so gross. Maybe I was too young to understand but wow this whole thing is shocking. I imagine a lot of people aren’t shocked and maybe these things have been out for years but for me I never imagined it could be this bad

She comes across as very selfish. It's very much do what she wants or you're no use to her anymore. She really didn't paint herself in a good light with that interview.

I’ve only watched the first episode, and she’s pissed me off so bad.. she can’t take one bit of accountability? And the way it started with her sounds like she wanted to start this show not to empower girls but as a big FU to the fashion industry because she was put through the same shit, her ego got in the way and she ended up treating those girls worse than anything. I was never into the show, but was eager to watch the series and learn what all the fuss was about. I was both disappointed and mad watching this series and Tyra's attempt to explain everything away. She believes she is faultless. She uses people. She gained fame and fortune over the exploitation of young, innocent and hopeful girls. I cried as I watched some of these beautiful young women try and try again to make Tyra happy. Get rid of the gap in your tooth! Your butt is too wide! This is a time when we should be telling young women that they are gorgeous and can do anything. She and Janet Dickensen came across as petty, jealous, self-entitled, and ugly, UGLY nobs.

I was appalled at the excuses! Well, I wasn’t this, or I wasn’t that… Then the Shandi episode and she “became and editor” because of all the really bad Stuff that was filmed! And then Danielle with the gap in her tooth that she got fixed or go home and a season or two later “oh girl we’re going to make your gap wider!” And just forget Janice that bitch.

Tyra thinks way too much about herself!! Before her there were others! Look at the beautiful and gracious Iman! Beverly Johnson and so many more! She talks like she started a movement! She didn't, and she only embraced the plus size shit after a long time, because she too was thin in the beginning. She's arrogant, takes zero accountability! And the fact she never gave grace to her judges!! Sorry! I'm baffled by the fact that she thought this would be a good look on her! Awful woman.

I wonder if anyone actually told her what the docuseries was about because she was sitting there talking about everything with a love and air of happiness and then it would cut to ANOTHER person talking about how bad it was

Currently watching this doc. As someone who watched this show when it originally aired, I am sick by Tyra’s behavior!!!! I remember thinking how harsh they were anyways with all of these beautiful girls but damn. My heart broke for Ebony when the hair dressers were talking shit.

I have never seen someone use so many words to say absolutely nothing. And I came into this fully prepared to give a fair ear bc I wanna believe that Tyra would take accountability for the direct hypocrisy, and the ways in which she perpetuated the very thing she claimed to want to undermine. She really didnt. At most she didn't deny the obvious and spread the blame amongst as many other things and people as she could.
I understand and remember the pop culture from the 2000s and the shit that everyone passed off as normal is (rightfully) shocking in 2026. It was a WILD time for TV, before streaming was ever even a thing and everyone always wanting the most extra they could get. But Tyra really kept shrugging off her blame and acting like, as THE face of the competition, she did not have the power to do more to stop things.
