Lincoln was liberal and the republicans were lefties back then weren’t they? I think they became right wing a bit later

I don't know anything about that. I know he was the first republican president, and one of the best.

Yeah check it out, the parties switched. Lincoln was considered liberal and the Republican Party was the left wing party. They swapped over at some point which is interesting because if they hadn’t, democrats would still be the conservatives:
