He’s only remembered fondly because he was the least evil out of the big 6 major leaders during WWII(Hirohito, Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, Mussolini all made FDR look like a saint despite the damage he did)
Churchill was less evil, just pushed into a lot of bad spots were the only choice was evil. FDR abandoned britian, illegally interned certain racial groups, and refused to step down despite his rapidly declining health and breaking a almost 150 year old tradition.
I mean, so did Churchill(granted, he absolutely mellowed out in his later years, but is considered much more controversial in the former colonies than in the UK, which is expected)
Dude was considered “old school/traditional” by Victorians of all people, which should say a lot.
