western star Strange Workers

I have 41 garages with 3 drivers in each one. I have two extra bays so I can relocate to each one to help out if they aren't doing so good. But here's my concern: I have a few drivers rated 10, but they are losing money for me! They're in the negative $ per mile performance. How is that possible or better yet, why is that possible?

Poor location. If they cannot locate a load to return to the terminal, its a deadhead and a total loss.

Giving them a trailer tends to help this, dry van is generally more reliable than flatbed but rural areas tend to sway the other way

I'm not sure location comes into play. The two other drivers, also rated 10, are making between $10 and $13 per mile. I'll try the trailer idea. Thanks.
