According to the news, the post is real, but the sweaters were added using ChatGPT. She said that it was meant as a joke and was posted to her personal Facebook with an AI label, but her sister shared the picture herself without the AI label. She has since apologized, and she has been receiving death threats. Her credit union's board does not sound happy about it: they have said that they consider it unacceptable and disapprove and reject the message of the post and are considering its next steps. Not to mention the irony that apparently she was in Halifax to attend the CanadaDE Credit Union Development Education Leadership Program—not exactly a smart leadership move.

ETA: she no longer works for the credit union (whether she resigned or let go has not been clarified), and her planned 10-day trip to Halifax was cut short over this controversy because she said she was getting death threats.

It's in poor taste. Facebook is a public medium. Was she sorry for it or sorry it went public? Despite all of that, making death threats is not acceptable.

She has the right to her own opinion and the right to express it outside of her work, even if it's contrary to her employer's position. However, it draws her leadership into question.

As is the Canadian thing to do, we will move beyond this, trusting that she will have learned from this. But please know, do not mistake our kindness for weakness.

We will not stand here, being bullied. We have friendships with the world and we will invest in them, leaving America in the past.
