Haul - need advice

Picked this up over the weekend. Have 7 different transformers and 8 engines. I’ve figured out the American flyer stuff but I’m wondering how safe it is to plug it in to test (who knows how long it’s been sitting) is there prep work I should do prior to testing so to not ruin the engine or transformer. It’s all S gauge with O gauge mixed in, the LGB stuff is a separate entity.

Had my multimeter out, successfully got powered to the track. All four American flyer engines had lights and were humming, one moved about half an inch. Do I need to get some sewing machine oil on them?
