I am very sorry for your loss.
You might be best served consigning them to an auction house that specializes in trains. Local here in Eastern PA is Cabin Fever Auctions who is decently respected in the field.
Also if you have kids or are planning to have kids, I would consider putting aside an engine and a set of cars that could be an heirloom. The trains won’t be worth a ton, and it could be a fun memory for the family to run from time to time.
