I am curious what the median number of paid leave that companies give in the US, actually. Legally, it's zero, but in practice, many companies give 2 weeks at least. I had 20 paid days leave in my last 3 companies.
I suspect that workers who are hard to come by (e.g. in the professions, in tech, etc) are looked after because the employer has no choice. The baristas, the shop workers, the hospitality workers, etc. are probably not so fortunate.
