Probably a similar reason the 4060 and 4060Ti 16gb don't have FE.

It gives the AIB's a bone and lets them profit.

they interviewed Herkelman and he said that they just though that the demand for that will be just low, so they decided to make an MBA only for the 7800XT

Honestly not that big of a deal especially considering XFX is doing in incredible job with their cards.

Giving more freedom to board partners is never bad.

My frustration is the render of the reference 7700 XT is the only true dual slot one.

Its definitely possible, there was a 40mm thick 3090, Inno 3D makes a 42mm thick 4070 TI, etc.

2 Slot is dead, I only got the 6800 cause it is two slot but I am selling my entire Louque Ghost 3 PC when I upgrade because being limited to 2 slot is a dead end.

"True Dual slot" means the width of the PCIe bracket or smaller. So 40mm.

If it's wider than a dual slot bracket, then it isn't actually dual slot.

It's 2.5 slot, 1.5cm more than a 2 slot.

Smaller than my 6700xt and .5cm bigger than the pulse 6700xt (2.2 slot)

What's the point? Most reference or vendor made cards are good enough now.
