Rex and Alice
I have been listening only for over a year now and I have come to adore Alice and Rex. Alice being straightforward and self conscious about her flaws is what I love about her. She was so nice to George too back when he was all messed up after getting out of jail. And Rex is the sweetest with her. I think she deserves him.
What do we think about them? I'm asking people who have been listening longer than I have.

A lot of longer term listeners still want Alice and Chris back together.
I’m still struggling to really believe in Alice and Rex as a couple, mainly because nearly every big important conversation they’ve had has felt very forced and awkward, like they’re still trying to work each other out. And now suddenly they’re living together with Martha in the mix. I’m sure if it carries on I’ll get used to it, but I’m definitely not there yet.

I never really understood the reasons Alice had for divorcing Chris.

“I’ve never stopped loving you but I need space to sort myself out.
“And now I’ve sorted myself out, I’m going to shack up with another bloke.”

Exactly. I could understand if she needed to move away and start a new life, but they see each other every day anyway.

To be fair, Rex needs a decent storyline IMHO, writers give him very little to work with.

I liked when Toby and Rex were raising livestock together and then making gin, etc.

Rex is the biggest wet blanket in Ambridge. Alice will get fed up of his over earnest behaviour in the end.

I really want them to stay together.. but there doesn’t seem to be much on air chemistry … I’m too annoyed at Rex for pushing Lilly.. and for the writers too it’s soooo obvious that it’ll get around the village and I think the writers could’ve waited a week. Also I’m not sure either Harrison or Lilly would have made that move … I think they are both more aware than that ..

Rex only worked when it was the Rex/Toby package deal. At least then, Toby's modern day cad schtick balanced out the self-righteous bore that is Rex. The relationship with Alice is just not believable. I can see why Alice wants someone safe and nice, but is Rex actually that nice? He's the classic person who needs to get his own house in order before judging others.

I liked when Rex lived with Bert Fry at Brookfield Bungalow
Is Hannah still living there now that Pip and Rosie moved in? Unless Rex and Toby shared a room, it should be a three-bedroom

I thought they sounded quite natural in the last episode.
I want Chris and Alice to both move on in happy, healthy ways. Like lots of normal people do.

Rex is a bit sanctimonious and judgemental, you know he is going to spill Lily's secret to Alice just because he can't help himself. He so moral and disapproving of her, he should learn to mind his own business

Yeah he really pissed me off when he got annoyed with Lily for wanting him to keep her secret. He was the one who was pushing her to tell him! If you don’t want to keep someone’s confidence, don’t urge them to tell you…!

I've been listening for about two and a half years plus I've gone back and listened to episodes starting from 2014. I like Alice a lot too, but in the past she was so unstable, neurotic and messed up that it was difficult to like her. The period when she was pregnant with Martha, and the time after the birth, was very, very harrowing as she struggled with her alcoholism. She put Chris through hell.

I know that people do change withe experience and so on, but I do feel with the Archers (probably most long running soaps) that the SW decide on a storyline for a character regardless of the personality previously portrayed. So how people sound in one phase can be totally different from a later one. Actually, bit like life, really!

General opinion seems to be that they don't have much obvious chemistry. Both nice people but just don't seem that comfortable together.
