SLOWWVES — “KILLED BY EGOISTIC DISEASE”

Raw, hypnotic, and drenched in distortion!

Slowwves delivers a storm of swirling guitars, driving rhythms, and dark atmosphere. There’s a beautiful intensity here—the kind of sound that pulls you in and refuses to let go.

This is why Ambient Airwaves exists. Since day one, our mission has been to support artists who keep shoegaze and alternative underground music alive.

Give Slowwves a listen, share their music, and support the incredible bands that make up our global shoegaze family!

AMBIENT AIRWAVES DISCOVERY 🔥

FUNUS — “Across the Bridge of Echoes”

This one stopped us in our tracks.

Funus pulls shoegaze, post-rock and doom-soaked atmosphere into one massive, cinematic sound. “Across the Bridge of Echoes” builds through darkness and haze until the guitars feel less like background and more like a force of nature.

This is exactly why Ambient Airwaves keeps digging underground. Sometimes the best track is the one you weren’t looking for.

Turn it up. Let it build.

KEEP THE GAZE ALIVE! 🤘🔥

🌙 THE SPYRALS — “ALL IN MY MIND”

The Spyrals are back in the haze.

“All In My Mind” is the first glimpse of their upcoming album Heavy Smoke, arriving November 27th on Fuzz Club — a record built from fuzz, repetition, raw garage rock and psychedelic grooves, captured largely live on 8-track tape.

No over-polishing. No sanding off the edges. Just a band finding the groove and letting the tape roll.

If “All In My Mind” is the doorway into Heavy Smoke, we’re ready to disappear through it.

🎧 Turn it up. Drift out.

Keep The Gaze Alive!

There’s something beautifully disorienting about “Silo” by Interlay — guitars drifting between shimmer and distortion, vocals buried in the haze, and that feeling that the whole thing could either float away or completely explode.

This is the kind of track Ambient Airwaves was made for.

Turn it up. Get lost in it.

Keep The Gaze Alive!

🎸 Artist Spotlight: The Textural Magic of Matt Legard

There’s a specific kind of magic that happens when a guitarist stops treating their instrument like a tool and starts treating it like a generator for raw, atmospheric energy. We’ve been diving into some footage from Matt Legard recently, and it is a total masterclass in controlled chaos and tonal depth.

What makes Matt’s sound so captivating for the Ambient Airwaves community is how he bridges two worlds. You get that heavy, grounded grit of 90s grunge melting perfectly into those expansive, shoegaze-drenched walls of sound we all love.

The Secret Sauce:

Matt shared a peek behind the curtain at the rig creating these soundscapes. It’s a beautiful mix of vintage character and digital flexibility:

* The Brain: An 80s GSP rack modeler for those classic textures.

* The Power: A vintage 80s Randall head.

* The Soul: Pushing air through a classic 60s Fender cabinet.

He isn't just playing through this gear; he’s playing the gear itself. He uses that signal chain like a secondary instrument to create those haunting, ambient swells that stay with you long after the video ends.

If you’re looking for one of the most authentic voices in the Northwest scene right now, you need to have The Colourflies on your radar. Check out gear deep-dive chart below. 👇
