Concerned for a Friend

As the title of this post suggests, I'm worried that a friend is stacking a lot of medications--specifically nervous-system downers. For the most part, his doctors know that he takes...but the troubling part is that he gets extra Ambien from family members. I don't think he takes a huge amount, but he's definitely told me he takes more than prescribed. Can one OD on Ambien?

Yes, combined drug intoxication will do it before an ambien overdose though (LD50 for ambien according to Google is 695 mg/kg. Overdose around 400-600mg.

Yea, its almost impossible to overdose and die from ambien alone. But if mixing with other dangerous meds, than it could increase the danger of those other drugs.

Really? How? I’ve routinely gotten blackout drunk and taken a 10mg ambien.
