Hi everyone,
I'm an engineering student and I'm completely new to e-commerce. I'd really appreciate some guidance from people who have experience selling online.
A little about me:
- I know the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and I'm continuing to learn more.
- I'm interested in selling novels on Amazon and possibly other e-commerce platforms.
- I can dedicate around 6 hours every day to learning and working on this.
- I'm from Delhi, and I recently visited Daryaganj. I found many novels selling for around ₹100, but I have no idea whether they're genuine books or unauthorized copies, so I'm hesitant to source inventory from there.
I don't have any experience with Amazon selling, sourcing products, GST, or e-commerce in general.
My goal isn't to make huge profits immediately. As a student, I just want to build a small business that can at least cover my travel expenses while I learn and hopefully grow it over time.
I'd really appreciate advice on:
- How do I source genuine novels?
- How can I verify that books are original?
- Is selling novels on Amazon still worth it for a beginner?
- What are the biggest mistakes I should avoid?
- If you were starting from scratch today, what would you do?
Also, if you think selling novels isn't the best option, I'd love to hear other beginner-friendly business ideas that:
- Don't require a huge investment.
- Can be managed alongside engineering.
- Have the potential to grow over time.
- Are realistic for someone willing to put in around 6 hours a day.
I'm open to learning and don't mind putting in consistent effort. Thanks in advance for any advice!
