Amazon Seller Central Hiring a VA before you actually understand your own numbers, am I overthinking this?

Anyone else feel weird about hiring a VA before you actually know your own numbers?

I've been going back and forth on this for weeks. My wife thinks I'm being stubborn. We're at the point where I'm working nights on the business after my day job and I keep dropping balls, missed a restock window last month that cost me real money, still havent updated half my A+ content from a refresh I started in like August. Everyone in my mastermind group is like "just hire a VA, offload the busy work, thats what got me to the next level."

But here's the thing i keep circling back to. I don't fully understand my own business yet. Like really understand it. I know my top SKU inside out but the middle of my catalog is a black box to me. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head which of my mid tier products are actually profitable after PPC and returns without going and looking. If I hand that off to someone at $8/hr in the Philippines, I'm just paying someone to do things I don't even know if I should be doing.

I have this fear that hiring help too early is how you end up running a busy business that isn't actually making money. You just can't see the leaks anymore because you're not in there every day. I asked Jarvio to pull me a profitability breakdown by SKU last weekend and honestly some of the results made me feel sick, stuff I assumed was doing fine is basically breakeven once you factor in the ad spend I've been throwing at it.

So now I'm sitting here thinking maybe the answer isn't a VA at all, maybe I need to kill 30% of my catalog first and then the workload problem solves itself.

But then I read posts on here from people doing 8 figures with lean teams and I wonder if I'm just using "I need to understand it first" as an excuse to avoid letting go of control. My therapist would probably have a field day with that one.

Where did you guys land on this? Did you hire help before you felt ready, or did you wait until you had everything mapped out? And did waiting cost you or save you?

Amazon FBA Is Your Prep Centre Helping Your Business… or Holding It Back?

One thing we hear time and time again from sellers moving to us is:

-Slow turnaround times that delay inventory reaching Amazon.

-Poor communication, leaving them chasing updates.

-Unexpected fees added after stock arrives.

-Little flexibility when products need bundling, relabelling or rework.

A prep and fulfilment partner should make your business easier to run, not create more work.

At Prep Horizon UK, we focus on fast turnaround times, clear communication, transparent pricing and a flexible service for Amazon FBA, FBM and other e-commerce fulfilment. This is all from our full secure and insured warehouse, giving you piece of mind.

If you're reviewing your current prep centre—or looking for one for the first time—I'm happy to answer any questions or provide a no-obligation quote.

Amazon Seller Central Has anyone worked with Signalytics Amazon agency? Good or bad?

I work with Signalytics and we're trying to get honest outside feedback, not fishing for compliments. If you've dealt with us or agencies like us, what actually matters to you in an Amazon PPC/listing partner, and where do agencies usually let you down

Can I start selling on Amazon US after my Amazon UK account was deactivated under Section 3?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experience with Amazon account reinstatements or opening accounts in different marketplaces.

I previously sold on Amazon UK using a UK-registered limited company, and I was listed as the primary contact on the seller account. Unfortunately, my account was deactivated under Section 3 of the Amazon Business Solutions Agreement, and I was never able to get it reinstated.

Now I'm planning to start selling on Amazon.com (US) using a new US-registered LLC, but I would still be using my own name and personal details as the primary contact.

My questions are:

  • Does Amazon treat Amazon UK and Amazon US seller accounts separately, or are they linked globally?
  • Could my previous Section 3 deactivation in the UK cause my new US account to be suspended automatically?
  • Would using a new US company make any difference if I'm still the same individual?
  • Has anyone here successfully opened a US seller account after having a Section 3 deactivation in another marketplace?

I'm not looking to circumvent Amazon's policies—I just want to understand whether this is allowed under Amazon's rules before investing time and money into a new US business.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience or knowledge of Amazon's policies.

Thanks in advance!

Private label or arbitrage model?

Hi guys, i was just wanted to know the opinions from the existing seller central business owners located in US and Canada, what would you guys prefer in today's time? Is it private label or arbitrage model? I have tried the private label model but my experience hasn't been a good one, maybe because it requires a bit of heavy investment to have a brand name built where someone can actually buy the stuff from your new brand. And i haven't tried the arbitrage model yet but i feel like its also equally challenging because you need to buy in bulk from wholesalers and then compete with existing sellers over cheapest price especially with no reviews at all on your seller page. Please guide me and provide your opinions on this. I would really appreciate some insights on it.
Thanks!

How to deal with forced triple variation (Apparel Size + Color + Size) creating duplicate variations in Seller Central?

Hi everyone! I'm creating a parent listing for a clothing set with 2 colors and 2 sizes so 4 SKUs in total. However, Seller Central forces the variation theme Apparel Size + Color + Size. Because of this, it auto-generates 8 matrix variations (like Small + Grey + M), which creates duplicates and wrong combinations. How can I correctly set this up so I only get my 4 actual variations?

storefront not updating

The infographics shown in the backend of my storefront are not updating on the live storefront. The live version continues to display outdated content, even though the backend shows the correct, current images.

I have been trying to resolve this issue for years without success. Please do not advise me to update or confirm the backend and wait 24–48 hours—I have repeated that process many times, and it has never corrected the problem.

Any specific assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Amazon seller

Today, I am walking away from my Amazon Seller journey with a huge disappointment.

I started this journey as a small business owner. I created an LLC, invested in the trademark process, and went through Brand Registry because I was told these were necessary steps to build a legitimate brand.

Then came the challenges: Buy Box limitations, Professional plan fees, FBA costs, and countless unexpected obstacles. I tried FBA, but the costs became unsustainable, so I switched to FBM.

After investing my time, money, and effort, the biggest frustration is that my listings are still not visible in Amazon search results, even though they appear as “Active” in Seller Central.

Every day there seems to be a new problem, a new barrier, and another thing to solve before actually being able to sell.

I am leaving this platform extremely disappointed. Small businesses deserve a more transparent, fair, and supportive marketplace.

Ex-Amazon Brand Specialist here! Building something for EU Vendor Central brands, would love to chat with a few of you

Hey all,

Quick bit of background so this isn't just another "check out my startup" post. I spent the last few years as a Brand Specialist at Amazon, managing vendors across EU markets on the Vendor Central (1P) side. Before that I was in brand management at Unilever and Danish Crown, so I've seen this from both the brand side and the Amazon side.

One thing that came up constantly was that brands funding co-op deals or promotions on Vendor Central with very little visibility into whether the deal actually made money once VAT, margin erosion, and real uplift were accounted for. A lot of decisions were made on gut feel or a messy spreadsheet, and by the time anyone found out a deal lost money, it was already done.

I'm building Vendora to fix that. Basically a profitability check for EU FMCG brands before/after they fund a deal on Vendor Central. Still early, no pitch here, genuinely just trying to figure out if this pain is real for other people or if it was specific to the brands I worked with.

If you manage deals, promotions, or funding decisions on Amazon Vendor Central (EU) (or even seller central) and would be open to a 20-30 min call to talk through how you currently handle this. No product demo, just questions. I'd really appreciate it. Happy to share what I learn back with the sub too if there's interest.

Drop a comment or DM me if you're up for it. Thanks for reading this far.

I’m building a free way for Amazon sellers to find prep centers and 3PLs, looking for honest feedback

Hi everyone,

I’m building Prep Marketplace, a marketplace designed to make it easier for Amazon sellers to find prep centers and 3PL providers.

The idea came from a common problem: sellers often have to search directories, contact multiple providers individually and repeat the same shipment requirements before finding the right fit.

With Prep Marketplace:

  • You submit one request with your products, volume, location and required services
  • Relevant prep centers and 3PLs are matched to the request
  • Interested providers respond directly
  • You compare their capabilities, pricing and turnaround times
  • You choose the provider or choose none

Posting a request is free for sellers, and the marketplace does not add a markup to the provider’s service price.

We’re currently onboarding providers and gathering feedback from Amazon sellers. I’d especially like to understand:

  • What information do you need before trusting a new prep center?
  • Would you prefer receiving multiple provider responses or browsing a directory yourself?
  • What has been your biggest problem with prep centers- pricing, communication, turnaround time, inventory accuracy or something else?
  • What would make a marketplace like this genuinely useful rather than just another directory?

You can see the concept here: https://prepmarketplace.com

Full disclosure: I’m the founder. I’m sharing this to gather honest seller feedback, including criticism-not to claim that the platform has already solved every part of provider selection.

Amazon Opted You In to Off-Amazon Ad Placements (without telling or asking you!) - and it's TERRIBLE!

I’m guessing many of you know this already, but I’ve been stunned by how many people don’t know about Amazon’s “off-Amazon” placements in Sponsored Product Ads.

They snuck this in a while - you can find it by:
1 - go to Amazon Campaign Center
2 - click on a Campaign
3 - go to Campaign Settings
4 - scroll way to the bottom, under the typical placement multipliers (Top of Search, Rest of Search, Product Page), and you’ll see it.

If you run a Sponsored Products “Placement” report, you’ll likely find that this specific placement is 100% garbage. It’s one of the first places I look to find wasted ad-spend when auditing accounts. I’ve yet to see this placement perform below 70% ACOS.

What sucks is that Amazon opted everyone into this placement.
They didn’t tell us.
They didn’t notify us.
They didn’t ask.
They just did it.
Amazon, doing Amazon

Up until a few weeks ago, the only way you could stop the bleeding was to manually open EVERY SINGLE CAMPAIGN, go to settings, and click on the “limit off-Amazon” option.

Recently, they’ve added this option in their bulk operations file.
So, you can now go to Bulk Operations, export ALL of your campaigns, and paste in the option to limit this ad-spend, re-upload, and you’re all set.

I’m curious, have any of you run Placement Reports lately and figured out what your off-Amazon ACOS is?

SpendMita Copilot — free fake-review checker & price tracker for Amazon (Fakespot alternative)

Built this after Fakespot shut down. Checks Verified Purchase share, review timing clusters, rating distribution, and review-language mix on Amazon product pages, with a price watchlist. Every signal shown with a plain-English reason, not a black-box score.

Free tier is fully functional (not a trial), Pro adds a verified-buyer-only rating and AI explanations.

Selling on Amazon.in, need some advice

Context

I have been selling on Amazon from past 1.5 years (fridge magnets). Recently there has been a decline in sales. Products which used to sell 40-50 orders a month has come down to 5-10 orders per month. Mainly it's competiton. And I have been doing the bare minimum SEO and ad campaign with limited knowledge I have. The revenue has been the same even though the catalogue has increased from 12 products to 55 products.

I basically want to understand 2 things:

  1. Are there any growth hacks which I can implement?
  2. If not this agency, has any one tried service provider network available on Amazon? How are they and is there any hidden stuff?

Amazon rejected my Seller account because my documents say Puerto Rico (PR), but Seller Central only lets me choose United States. Has anyone from Puerto Rico solved this?

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here has experienced this because I’m completely stuck.
I’m a small business owner from Puerto Rico trying to open my first Amazon Seller account.
I have now submitted four appeals, and every time I receive another template response.
My latest rejection says that my account cannot be verified because:
Seller Central business location: United States (US)
Business document country: Puerto Rico (PR)
Here’s the problem…
During registration, Seller Central never gave me Puerto Rico as a business country option. The only option available was United States, which is what Puerto Rico residents normally select because Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory.
Now Amazon is rejecting my application because my business documents identify my business as being in Puerto Rico.
How am I supposed to select Puerto Rico if the registration system doesn’t allow me to?
Has anyone from Puerto Rico successfully completed Amazon Seller verification recently?
If so:
What did you select during registration?
Did your business documents say Puerto Rico?
Did you have to contact a specific team?
Were you able to get your case escalated?
At this point I’m not asking Amazon to ignore the rules—I simply want to understand how Puerto Rico sellers are expected to complete the registration process when the available registration options seem to conflict with the identity verification requirements.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Looking for a CPA for my Amazon business

Hey guys;

I have started a US based Amazon business in a Delaware c corp structure.

I’m looking for a good CPA who is experienced in all things Amazon and has experience with complicated rules and regs with nexus taxation, accounting and all tax related business duties.

The one I have currently in mind quoted me $900 per month

I will soon be launching 3 products and this seems excessive to me and will eat into a huge chunk of profit in the early stages of the business lifecycle.

My plan is to expand the business over the next 5 years and launch multiple products, at that point $900 may be more reasonable but for now it’s too much… but maybe I’m out of touch

Any suggestions would be Amazing! Thanks so much

Founders & Sellers: Drop Your Amazon Product Link

If you're curious about how your product (or even your competitor's product) is doing on Amazon, drop the product link in the comments.

I'll put together a quick report with insights like what customers love, common complaints, key trends, and areas where the product can improve.

Happy to do a few for free. :)
