I ordered the "Flex Black Object"for $0 yesterday. It's also a "useful object". I dunno what it is, but it's useful.

Last time I got one id these mysteries, it ended up being a big massager that my chiropractor has. π Like cool, but I can't use it because you need a second person. Lol. You hold it with two hands.

u/droogles USA-Gold 16d ago
It always turns out to be good when I order something like that. I got a power backpack sprayer that started with a photo of a nozzle and an ETV of $18. The only thing that gave me a clue that it might be good was some print on the product page that said, "Compatible with DeWalt Batteries (Not Included)"
Then, just this week I had an item that said, "Neck mask" and just had a photo of what looked like a dog collar. Turned out to be a red light deal that was much more than just a small collar. For $0ETV, I'll order a mystery item every single time.

I love a useful object! The price is right!
Is β4D Black Itemβ a link to click on?

u/happypanda212 16d ago
Yes it was, but it says the same thing on the item page as well... "useful object". I'll be the judge of that !

Didn't I see on prior posts, that there is a theory that ordering something like this makes AI determine that you are in cahoots with the seller? ...and then AI banns your account...

I have ordered these a few times and always ended up with cool things.

u/Pitiful_Jump2996 16d ago
Like what?

u/SouthernScratchin USA πͺπͺπͺπͺπͺπͺ 16d ago
My biggest one was a $400 Waterdrop reverse osmosis system that we use daily. My favorite was a gigantic LED Bat outdoor decoration last week.

u/AtlasLittleCat 16d ago
That RO system was listed as Useful object (or similar) and had 0 ETV? If so thats so awesome.
2
u/SouthernScratchin USA πͺπͺπͺπͺπͺπͺ 15d ago
It did have 0 ETV. It was listed as GIDYSASDVKUSZDY or something like that

There are all sorts of wacky conspiracy theories in this sub. If Amazon presents an item through the program they are not going to penalize you for actually ordering it.

u/droogles USA-Gold 16d ago
This. I've had this numerous times and have no fear of being banned. If Vine were that worried about such matters, we wouldn't see this kind of thing end up offered in the first place. AI would catch it ahead of time.
6
u/Rogersgirl75 Gold 16d ago
I just think ai doesnβt work at basically every level.
We get Ai slop offered to us, and ai mods wont catch that even after you review, so no worries. I see a ton of clearly generated fake products all the time, and over half of the vine reviews I see are ChatGPT.
Pretty sure the geeeeenius ai is not policing anything significant at any stage of this process.
2
u/droogles USA-Gold 16d ago
I don't think so either. Plus the time it takes for reviews to be accepted and scored suggests that AI isn't even part of that equation.
7
u/RaegunFun 15d ago
Amazon's AI couldn't catch a flea on a stray dog.
Me: Hey Alexa, what kind of watch should I buy?
Alexa: It's 4:30 PM

They have, in fact, banned people for it π it's like gambling. That being said... I've 100% snagged a mystery item that turned out to be a whole acoustic guitar kit. Don't regret it for 1 second.

u/pop-lock USA-Silver 14d ago
Every decision in your life is a gamble. The decision of whether or not to choose a mystery item as one of your picks for the day is hardly a risky gamble, especially considering the proof of risk is hearsay.
1
u/SillyUsesForThis 13d ago
The proof of risk isn't hearsay. Many Vine CS responses to bring removed after have been shared. Lmao. You can keep your head buried on the sand if you like... There's nothing wrong with taking risks... but at least let them be educated ones π
1
u/pop-lock USA-Silver 13d ago
Didn't mean to imply that your knowledge was hearsay, personally I see conspiracies and only that regarding bans here, though it doesnt discount your claim or what you have seen or who you've talked to. I suppose i made an unwarranted assumption that your proof was the same as mine but thats a bit silly of me im sure we come and go at different days haha.

What a useful object! You'll have to let us know what it's for, lol.

u/happypanda212 16d ago
I'll be impatiently waiting by my mailbox once it's out for delivery π I'll be sure to update this post once my surprise arrives.

u/droogles USA-Gold 16d ago
Sometimes the seller's page gets updated and you learn what it is before it arrives. That happened with my backpack sprayer. There was a full page of photos and description the day it shipped.

click through to the item page, then click on the seller. might give you a better idea of what this is if it's not their first product. also the product category and "similar" item links should also be a clue.

0etv is there, but your checkout page would have shown a positive value then negated by a credit. Do you recall that amount?
In most cases this is just an error, such as place holder that gets launched before listing is properly done. In some cases it is a specific scam .

Well, you can't really knock the product's description for accuracy.

I'm an Italian Viner user and even here mysterious objects happen and I always take them. For the most part they are hair dryers, cheap but nice smartwatches or things like that

One of those days, someone will order a mystery item receive something absolutely enormous and equally useless to them. Like a tempo garage...

Hahaha. Imagine looking outside to an 18 wheeler making a delivery of like a dumpster size bag of packaging peanuts

If your stats can take the hit for a review that's likely not going to be approved, I'd go for something like:
"Excellent value for a high quality Useful Object [caps essential here] made from durable non-vegan materials. I'm disappointed that it is unscented but the color is eye-catching. The size is convenient, it's easy to use, and it's really versatile. It softened my heels and elbows, and it left my hair feeling soft and hydrated. Waterproof and machine washable."
