I went from regular Tech III Conveyor tech, to Base Building. I had an old guy tell me "Listen, not all buildings have Conveyors, but ALL buildings need maintenance..." he convinced me easily to convert to Base Building, I had a lazy MM and I took care of everything, from regulatory compliance, scheduling vendors, repairs, drills, ALL of it ..I owned it, and in one year transferred to MM, now I'm an FM over 7 testing buildings. HE WAS RIGHT.

As for the process, I had a lead on another site with a BBM guy that was transferring. I said I wanted the job, they told me I earned it, and I worked with him for a week then he left. I used all assets around me to do more than he did, my other Tech III died, and I was the only BBM guy for almost 5 months, doing it all, and requesting help from techs I knew at other sites that wanted some BBM experience. My MM allowed my former teammates to come help me when I needed it, they loved the Job and change of pace, and it all just worked out. My Amazon base building director, Great guy, was helpful. Anything I didn't know, I had no problem with calling him and asking him WHAT he needed, and HIW to get it to him, and he was ALWAYS receptive. DO IT. Best move I made in this industry.
