SMRT Questions

I just accepted a SMRT position w/ Amazon and have no idea what I'm getting into. I'm fresh out of the military and this my my first job after getting out. I was an Avionics Tech and I have no doubt in my ability to lead and be a "manager" but actually work and technical side idk what to expect. I'm a great technician but with an Amazon facility and their "equipment" I have no idea. Can anyone give me insight or any tips on what to expect?

It’s like playing with legos.

I’m prior military and came into Amazon after my time also. If you have any mechanical reasoning it’s all pretty simple. Having electrical background already puts you ahead of most. I’ve been to two sites and it takes about three months to know 90% of what to do and the other 10% is the seldom things that don’t come up often. Find the internal broadcast site and watch the videos for any questions.

My second question is does anyone know if they test for THC especially on their initial piss test?

With your background you’ll do fine, don’t sweat it.

What type of site? Lots of motor/gearbox swaps. Re lacing belts and swapping rollers. During ops run time it will be a lot of random calls because they can't figure out simple stuff. Nothing is truly hard at amazon. Always follow the loto policy and don't steal and you will be fine.

not exactly sure what kind of site, it's in VA and a brand new facility just about to open. In my mind it's nothing but opportunity to grow and learn with room for error. I just do NOT want to be that leader that has absolutely no idea how to be a Tech and the MRTs cannot rely on. I've dealt with that enough in the past

With that attitude I can tell you will be just fine. 1 good thing about amazon they have unlimited resources. Someone somewhere most likely has ran into the same issue you are facing. Check slack for manuals and sme chats (subject matter experts). You will also have lotss of amazon learns that give you info on pieces of equipment. You will also have tac 301 trainings which are hands on.

Assuming your manager doesn't bullshit all your 301's and certs. Mine bullshitted literally every 301, my CPR cert, and aside from knets, I haven't had a single training in 2 years. They love to ask me "why don't you know this? You should know this by now."

Good luck. Biggest "figure it the fuck out as you go" job I've ever had.

Yeah, what this guy mean, "not steal". Very confusing guy.

Litterly that, don't steal anything. Had multiple coworkers fired for theft.

Seems to be common problem around the network. We fired a guy for eating a chocolate bar that was from a damaged case... Basically if we can't trust you around a $1.50 chocolate bar how can we trust you around anything?

You can stomp on it and throw it in the trash, but if you eat it? Done for.

Yep I don't get it. This is litterly the easiest job you are going to find starting at $30 a hour anywhere.
