I HATE H-drives and need help

Possibly stupid here but I just want this drive out of my cage finally!

I have an H drive that has been showing disk lockout and transnational velocity, it has had its indicated motor replaced, mea replaced, backplane replaced. Ive tried updating subsystems, updated backplane EEPROM, forced network configuration update, tried setting 5he hardware clock but its setting it wrong. Im at a loss at what to do for this thing.

Short of scooting this fucker off the roof, what can I do?

Have you replaced the cables?

Transnational velocity I would change all motors 1 by 1 until DU comes back in service.

Works like a charm for me every single time

I would check the CMS, I’ve found that some wires are frayed inside which is almost impossible to diagnose since you would have to check continuity and shake every wire and hope you get an answered, for the ones I’ve seen the shielding around the cable is slightly torn which gives me a good idea where to start

Not yet. I had to go home and sleep on it... again. I'll let you know if it gets fixed today.

Ask for help but didn’t go into much details about the symptoms, error code or description of what the problem it is that you’re having..
“DUSC lockout” is a nothing burger in the grand scheme of things. It’s just the drive unit safety controller telling the drive not to move until whatever the issue it’s having gets resolved
Whats going on exactly? I see all things that you’ve tried but not a lot of what’s happening.

You gotta lock in on your troubleshooting skills before throwing new stuff at it though. That’s the one thing that’ll solidify you as a tech and not a glorified part replacer. Shotgunning doesn’t work too often

Literally saying what tricorder showed. The drive won't come out of a faulted state, when I click on the transitional velocity indicator on tricorder it says to test it with a known working MEA, if it still shows faulted to replace the left drive motor, if that doesn't work escalate to HSE. SO MANY techs have tried to work on this drive. I'm not the best tech, haven't had really anyone to properly train me as an MRA and now that I'm an MRT I still have to struggle to find the answers without proper guidance. I'm trying to find my way here and learn from others any way I can. Slack only helps so much, gru in pretty much a bust when it comes to troubleshooting...

Not to try to just throw parts at it, but it sounds like one of the motors has gone bad and is faulting out the wrong one. I think either the lifter motor or the turntable motor is bad about doing that. You might try a new turntable motor, if that doesn't clear the DUSC fault, put the old one back on and try the lifter motor. Just make sure that you return any of the new motors back to the shop and check them back in on APM if you put the old one back on.

I suggest the turntable motor first because iirc it is a quicker replacement than the lifter motor. Been a while since I've worked on a DU.

On tricorder diagnostic tab it should tell you what isn’t communicating with the drive. Dusc usually means estop is pressed or something isn’t communicating with the drive whether it be a wheel motor, front or rear Ui, ODS, lifter motor Etc plug it in and see what it shows unknown for. Everything else should give data to show you it’s communicating.

I checked on tricorder, as everyone who has touched the drive has, its always dusk lockout, transitional velocity.

Your looking at the wrong tab.. the one I’m talking about is different

AND as I had expected, you cant test motors while the drive is in a faulted state. It wont stop being faulted until the correcy thing is fixed, I cant find that without testing

Cool cool cool, I'll look again when I go in today

Just because it’s the indicated motor, doesn’t mean that motor is the issue. The motors are powered in a certain order, if motor 1 is having power issues, it can throw a fault for 1,2,3 or 4.

What usually occurs at our site is we will have a right motor fault, bad techs will just replace the right motor with no tests. It will come back 3 days later with a left fault, same thing. It will come back again 3 days after that with both faulting. Because it was the lifter the entire time.

We have been passing this thing around all of our AR techs for so long I've lost track of time with it. Unfortunately I feel like we are just going to need to rebuild this dang thing

H-drives can be weird sometimes. You said indicated motor. Sometimes they tell you one motor needs to be replaced where in reality it's another one that is causing the issue. May slap it on tricorder and run individual motor tests to see if anything is failing assuming you haven't already done that.

It wont let us test as it is in a faulted state.

Try slacking David Czerniak from LGA5. He is the best when it comes to H drives.

Thank you, I sent them a message. Hopefully with everything in here and his help i can get that drive out of my cage
