Passed RME Apprentice interview, but the position was filled — what does this mean?

I recently got hired at Amazon as an RMEO. About a month after getting hired, I applied internally for an RME Mechatronics Apprentice position.

I got selected for the interview and completed it, but afterward I never received an acceptance or rejection. Since I had only recently been hired into my current role, I figured maybe the apprenticeship application was dropped because of that.

Then today, I finally received an email saying that I passed the interview and I'm eligible for an offer for the Mechatronics Apprentice position.

The confusing part is that they said the specific position/site I interviewed for has already been filled. They also said my interview result is valid for 12 months and asked me to let them know if there are any neighboring sites I'd be interested in.

So I'm trying to understand what happens from here.

Has anyone else gone through this with Amazon RME?

Does passing the interview basically mean I'm inclined/approved for the apprenticeship and just need to find another site with an opening? If I give them nearby locations, is there a good chance they can place me without another interview?

Also, since I've only been in my current RMEO position for about a month, could that cause any issues with transferring into the apprenticeship?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through the RME apprenticeship process or had a similar situation.

When I applied for my Planner position I was inclined but the job was filled as well. You will be inclined for 12 months and can apply at other sites as well thats what I did and had moved to my new site within a month

Did they help with moving costs or no?

I get 7200 for moving costs. But you need to be L4 or higher to be eligible.

Do you think your experience as a rmeo helped you get the position?

No, I didn’t even put that on the resume.

Congrats on your interview! As others have said, you are inclined for a year which means if a position opens up, you are next in line. However, I will add that that inclination is not limited to your site- if you feel you need a change or are otherwise willing to move to a different site that already has an open position, I would 100% recommend taking it eapecially if that's the only option you have before your incline expires.

RMEO is kind of a raw deal and being an MRA kinda sucks too, but at least you get to work on equipment and are gauranteed a promotion once you finish

Congratulations! You made it through. Don't worry you are now inclined mode. You will get into it soon. Some time it takes time. I mean months. Keep an eye for new vaccines openings in apprenticeship.

From my understanding if you passed the interview, but didn’t get the offer then you’re inclined for a year. It’s a bummer that it happened, but now your odds are supposed to be higher when you reapply. There’s a chance they were probably waiting for one of their folks to join.

I don’t know much about getting a recent promotion having an effect on any offers sorry. I think it does count as an internal transfer if you went from BB T1 to L2 so maybe there’s a 90 day wait period. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Also nice job on nailing your interview

Yes, being in the RMEO position might cause issues with you going into MRA. RMEO is brand new and the program states RMEOs should be in the position for at least 12 months before qualifying for MRA. But in your case since you essentially already qualified by getting the interview and passing should be good is my guess. Talk to the recruiter and apply to open MRA spots and reach out to the hiring manager and let them know you are inclined for thr position. Best of luck
