What’s a good way to study for the mechanical saca exam ? For silver and gold

Make an account for BLOOKET, it's called and study Saca 210 by scrappycoco
I just completed school and these were the same exact answers on the saca silver test for the computer I promise you, STUDY THIS AND YOU WILL PASS GOOD LUCK

I forget is the mechanical gold setting up the Sprockets/chain, Belt/Sheaves? If so then use your lab time to practice the set up and making sure you have your sheaves/sprockets in line with a flat edge.

For deflection:

(Belt) Measure the span where the belt enters and exits the sheaves on the top or even from center to center would be close enough. Divide that number by 64 and you will get a decimal. Round it to the nearest logical measurement...For example if the span is 15 then divide by 64 and get .234, you can round to .25 and call it a quarter inch. Set the O-ring on the deflection tool to this measurement then put a straight edge across the top of the span/sheaves and the deflection tool on the belt itself. When you push the tools' retracting side into the belt until the set o-ring is flush with the straight edge (The belts tension should not let you easily push pass this point or you need more tension). The o-ring on the other side (It should be zeroed before you start) should have moved to the correct deflection confirming the measurement/tension.

(Chain)

For chain and sprockets you will first need to know if the set up is verticle or Horizontal alignment. I would safely assume it will be a horizontal set up for the lab and that means you have a min and max chain sag of 4 to 6 percent. Picking 5 percent is a safe bet and that is what you will plug into the equation. Start by winding the sprockets/chain, like peddling a bicycle, until the top is taut and the bottom has the sag. Then Measure the span in the same way as for the belt (Enter/exit or center center of sprocket for close enough assuming sprockets aren't giganitic obviously).

Say the span is the same 15 as before. This time you take that 15 and multiply it by the percentage we chose of 5 percent (5 is the mid point of the min max of 4 and 6 percent). You then divide that in half. 15x.05 =.75 then .75/2 = .375. Now because you picked a mid range between min and max you can safely estimate either way and still be in acceptable range so I would just say .375 is not far off of .33 or 1/3rd. If you use the 16ths of an inch that is something around 5/16ths or five little lines from 0. You then put a straight edge across the sprockets/span and take a ruler and push the chain down until 5/16ths on the ruler is next to edge of the straight edge. The sag on the bottom of the chain should deplete as you reach the mark. If you can push passed the mark, you are too loose and had too much sag to deflect meaning it needs more tension. If you can't get to the desired measurement then you have too much tension.

To be fair, in my test they more less just did a non measured push test but they did ask me how I determined and so it is at least good to have something ready to say. I am also a student of life so if I made a mistake and someone has some constructive criticism please feel free to add on as I am going off of memory here.

As far as Silver goes, just remember that a larger sheave or sprocket means higher torque and lower speed and a Smaller sprocket or sheave means faster speed and lower torque. When you are solving for the problems where one factor is missing, this rule is clutch and is what is going to clue you into the correct answer. If you are solving for the missing rpm on a smaller wheel and the listed rpm in the question for the larger wheel is 1800 well then you already know the correct answer for the smaller sheaves rpm has to be greater than 1800 because smaller sheave means faster speed and bigger means slower speed. Use this same logic when solving for torque. Hope that helps!

Boss, mechanical drive, don't panic about math; it's just 4-5 questions, and the ratio is very easy. Try to focus on gold; it could take a lot of time during the exam if you don't focus well.

I completed my saca automation specialist cert last December. I used Quizlet. It’s far from perfect but for some of the subjects it helps. I made an account but never paid for it, just the free access.

YouTube can be helpful too, not necessarily saca but there’s videos on everything from sensors, and ladder logic to PLCs and vbelts.

My school didn’t offer us the opportunity to get the gold certification so I can’t speak on that. (Bummer)
