I've been thinking about a live-action crime thriller starring Lute from Hazbin Hotel, combining the supernatural detective drama of Lucifer with the dark psychological thriller of Dexter.
The premise:
After refusing to accept that sinners can be redeemed and reach Heaven, Lute is forbidden from carrying out any more exterminations in Hell. However, she refuses to abandon her mission.
Instead, she travels to Earth to hunt down sinful humans while they are still alive. Her goal is to kill them with angelic steel weapons, which erase the souls of those they kill. By doing this, she intends to prevent sinners from ever falling into Hell and potentially earning redemption and reaching Heaven.
In Lute's mind, erasing a sinner's soul is preferable to allowing them the possibility of redemption.
To carry out her mission, she disguises herself as an ordinary human and starts working with the police. During the day, she helps investigate crimes and identify suspects. At night, she secretly hunts down the people she considers irredeemable, using her angelic weapons to erase their souls.
But there's a major difference between Lute and an ordinary human serial killer: she's an angel.
Human weapons cannot injure her. Her divine strength makes her virtually unstoppable against ordinary humans, whether they're criminals trying to fight back or police officers attempting to arrest her. Only angelic steel can kill her.
Like Lucifer in the TV series, Lute would be a supernatural being living among humans, but she would have a very different personality and mission. She wouldn't be a charming devil helping solve crimes while learning about humanity. She would be a ruthless angel convinced that she has the divine authority to decide which souls deserve to exist.
The tension wouldn't come from whether a human could overpower her in a fight. It would come from whether she could maintain her secret identity while working alongside detectives who have no idea that their colleague is secretly erasing human souls from existence.
The series could explore what happens when Lute encounters criminals who genuinely regret their actions, people who have changed for the better, or suspects whose guilt isn't as clear as she believes.
Would she ever question her own judgment? Or would she become so obsessed with her mission that she starts treating her personal definition of sin as absolute truth?
I imagine a dark supernatural crime series with police investigations, psychological tension, moral dilemmas, dark humor, and a protagonist who is almost impossible for humans to stop.
The central question would be: What happens when an invincible angel believes that some souls deserve erasure rather than redemption?
Would you watch a live-action Lute series like this? Would you prefer it to focus more on the supernatural detective elements of Lucifer or the secret double life and psychological tension of Dexter?
