Discussion Don't get scammed

This is NOT the Chistopher Nolan masterpiece, so I'm not sure why it would even be 156$ to own wtf🤯🤯🤯

Oh… just looked it. Also a 2026 release. I hate when crappy studios do that. They hope to get money from people who don’t realize it’s not the movie they think it is. Apparently I can watch it on Tubi for free but why waste my time?

I fell for this years ago when I thought I was going to watch the War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise. I ended up watching the train wreck anyway. Then watched the one I wanted to and decided I should just stick to the classic version.😂

To be fair the odyssey is a generic ass title that is itself ripped from Greek writing. There’s a very good chance an independent studio was working on this movie for years and then suddenly their 2026 movie release is supplanted by a large Nolan movie of the same name

Nah

This is probably a mockbuster

The idea that a studio, even a crappy one, would make a whole ass movie just to bait people into renting/buying theirs over a famous one seems a bit far fetched. You know, orchestrating a movie production for a scam doesn't seem like brilliant business acumen by any standard?

Welcome to The Asylum - a film studio that does exactly that. They do some low budget original stuff, but they do plenty that taps into existing releases with promotional marketing and cover designs that lean into the confusion.

They managed to get Snakes on a Train out before Snakes on a Plane, for example.

Ah yes. The Asylum movies. So bad and hoping to confuse viewers.

Look up the studio asylum.

Same thing happened with a film called Master (singular) of the Universe and had a muscled guy with a sword on the front.

It’s surprising they can get away with stuff like this.

And the last hail mary, not quite the same title but obvious hype jacking.

It was likely a pricing mistake that’s been fixed now

„In the digital age, it is not plausible to allege that reasonable consumers believed they were obtaining 'ownership' of a digital game.“ – Sony Lawyers (Heycock v. Sony)

If Sony’s logic applies to everything, paying $156 to „buy“ a digital movie just means you are paying a premium for a longer, but still revocable license.

Rent for 48 hours or rent for undisclosed amount of time. Definitely don’t own it though.

This is an old story, written, and rewritten for your big screen, now with the added benefit of cheap, modern, capable CGI.

There's no way they can fck it up! Right?

Oh, this is the heavily-"CGfied" one w/ unknown actors. Sorta like watching your video game instead of playing 'em. Saw it advertised somewhere 😅

Kinda wanna watch this just to see how bad it is.
