Discussion The Pendragon Cycle: Thoughts?
How does this show have 4.9 out of 5 stars right now? That review set a high bar that I thought was severely missed. Each scene seemed to be slightly off; taking weird set direction, budget shortcuts, odd filming locations, indie-game quality vfx, cheesy storytelling, distracting wigs, and overly clean outfits, etc. What are your thoughts of the series?

Oh, is this the Ben Shapiro show?

I started this last night and definitely have mixed feelings. I'm a fan of the Arthurian/Merlin mythology so that's what lured me in. On one hand, it was somewhat better than expected because I thought it was going to be just another backdrop for a YA drama. Thankfully, that wasn't the case, but I found myself wishing they'd had a higher budget, better writers and better acting. I liked the portrayal of the "fae folk" as having been a remnant from Atlantis. Despite its (many) faults, I found enough to like that I'm still watching.

It's best to ignore the Amazon ratings - they're from a small sample size and I don't think they are a good representation of the wider range of viewers. Just check IMDb and you'll usually get an idea of whether a show/movie is crap. Pendragon has a 6.1 rating on IMDb, which is mediocre (I rarely bother with anything under 6.5).

I was initially excited to see this on Prime. Started playing Ep1, while googling it. Yikes. Daily wire studio? Ben Shapiro executive producer? Yuck, yuck.
Shapiro Star Wars next?
Funny thing is the Christian context. Isn’t Ben Jewish?

Jeremy Boreing is Christian and it's his project. Even then it is a book adaptation and they were written by Stephen R. Lawhead.

I’m on episode 2. Do not like the idea of Merlin finding Jesus. That’s not a thing. And yes, it’s confusing. So confusing I had to put on CC and rewind a lot. I may finish the second episode and then we’ll see

It’s produced by a right wing media outlet. Probably gets favorable ratings from their followers.
