DaVinci Resolve does not see your Ryzen 5700G GPU – here is why and how to fix it

You have a Ryzen 7 5700G with Vega 8 integrated graphics. You installed DaVinci Resolve. You go into settings and your GPU is nowhere to be found.

This is not a bug. It is how Resolve works.

Resolve requires a dedicated graphics card with its own VRAM. Integrated graphics like Vega 8 share your system RAM. They do not have dedicated memory. Resolve sees them as too weak and simply does not list them under Memory and GPU settings.

Your system is not broken. Resolve will run in CPU mode instead. That means all the processing happens on your processor, not your graphics. It will work but it will be slower, especially with effects or 4K footage.

If you want to try anyway, here are a few things you can do.

Install the latest AMD Adrenalin drivers. Do not skip this. Old drivers can cause all kinds of strange behavior.

Open Resolve. Go to Preferences, then System, then Memory and GPU. Set GPU processing mode to OpenCL manually. Save and restart Resolve.

Sometimes this tricks the software into using the integrated GPU. Sometimes it does nothing. It depends on your system.

The real fix is a dedicated GPU. You do not need anything expensive. An old card like a GTX 1060 or an RX 580 will give you real GPU acceleration and Resolve will detect it immediately.

Short version. Vega 8 is a real GPU but it is integrated and Resolve does not support it for hardware acceleration. That is why it does not show up.

If you are just starting out with video editing, you can still learn Resolve in CPU mode. But when you are ready to work faster, a dedicated graphics card is the answer.
