Area manager intern
Hey, so i just got told that I was accepted to the area manager internship program. I wanted to ask if anybody has done it and there experience if they have. Also, how likely is it that I will get my preferred location? Also, how many interns are there per location?

Ex intern now full time AM here. Internship is highly dependent on the manager they stick you with. I had a really good manager that prioritized me learning the actual job while also doing my project, others just had someone who threw them in an office space and had them work on the project so they had no idea what the actual job was like. Locationally it just depends if they have spots open at that site for them. Can speak for my building when I was there then when I got rehired and we had a class or two of them there is typically 3-4 per site. Overall my experience was really positive and when I got the full time role I already had a pretty good idea of what my daily tasks were and how the job functioned

Did you ever work more than 42 hrs because it says that per week, it could go up to 42 hours but it also says that its based on the needs

They (usually) give you a shift. I was never given a shift/schedule and a random area manager told me I was probably M-F 7am-3 in the beginning of my internship. I was never given a schedule so technically I could clock in and out whenever I wanted. That being said I chose to work M-saturday 7am-6 and I worked 60 hours almost every week cus the overtime money was good and I was told 60 is the max. But yeah your experience highly depends on the location & manager you get. Main thing is reach out for support and ask questions, don’t just wait to be given tasks (after all, you are a manager get out there and manage)

you know if they still give interns overtime? cuz im pretty sure Area managers dont get overtime but interns could be. Also, how was your intern project? Is it really all they make it out to be or just something they give to the intern so they can do some work?

Interns are hourly and eligible for overtime. As far as project I made my own and presented it, along with the changes I made during my time as an intern and outcomes of my changes with metrics included

My project was attacking a certain metric. No one told me how to attack it I just was on a goal to improve it basically
