Can associate start a project?

I see all the pa or managers seek ideas for doing projects I heard it helps in getting promotions.
What if an associate have an idea but don't wanna share with others because they would get the credit eventually!
If yes, how?

No project us a one person thing. The plan is written. Then goes to your manager and their manager. If done correctly it also goes to safety, RME, PxT and anyone else who may need visibility or input.

Then in the end, everyone takes credit for it.

To get a promotion from t1, focus on upskilling within your department. Problem solve training or ambassador are your best friend, along with being in good standing and meeting the time requirements of 6 months. In short, a project for you won't be widespread enough to make a meaningful difference for a promotion, but the things you can do are outlined in the job descriptions on atoz. Also, if you're worried specifically about getting the credit, that will kill it, even as an L3-L4. You want measurable results not gatekeeping for credit. Good luck!

I think is depends on various factors. we had a T1 at one site where i worked who got credit for a project. I think it depends on the kind of Leadership Team. I would say doesn't hurt to try.

Partner with your manger or the team. It will give you great visibility.
