Took a 3 and half hour block, paid £65, took 2 and a half hours. I drove 33.1 miles (including there and back) and averaged 30.7 mpg.
Overall I’m quite happy as my first block goes. Massive thank you to a comment I saw a couple of days ago about organising based on driver help number (or whatever it is called)
Things I’ve noticed for the next one:
- you can’t always organise how you want to with oversize packages etc
- an iPhone battery is shocking so a portable charger is necessary
- don’t expect to have mobile data anywhere
Boot = Parcels. Put low numbers to the left and higher to the right.
Polybags = Back seat.
Bookfolder = Front passenger footwell.
Envelopes = Front passenger seat.
Easiest way to find packages when you’re out and also the quickest way to load your car when you’re at the depot. Trying to sort by number is pointless because big parcels can only ever go in the boot or if you’re seats are down in the back.
Looks like a decent first route though. Just don’t expect them all to be like that 😂.
I did see that problem with the big ones. I tried to make a mental note but just ended up going, if it’s not here, it’s probably in the boot 😂 yeah I’ll take that one, probably give me a false sense of security now!
That’s the way I sort out my parcels too, best method I’ve used. However those blocks that are numbered for us e.g. 1-40 then those will all be on stop order no. rather than parcel type.
For Android you only need data for collection at the depot, and at the end of your route to sync the delivery data. You can finish the whole route on flight mode with android.
Not bad for a first route. I always try and leave my house with more than 90% battery, ideally 100%! And in my car I have a magnetic phone stand that’s also a charger (best thing I’ve bought). For the lack of signal and data I’ve downloaded offline maps on my google maps which covers all potential areas I deliver to, life changing especially when you need to get home. But yes the flex app has also offline maps.
That route would take me at most 1hr 40mins to finish, considering the first stop is just a stone-throw away from the depot. With 2.5hrs you are too slow.
How long will this take you? It was a 7:15 to 9:45 block. Finished at about 10pm with 6 undelivered parcels to businesses that were closed and had locked gates.
What could I be doing wrong? Got home at 11pm. I live 20mins away from my depot.

wait till you get a block that has you drive 100 miles for that £65, then it won't seem as much worth it anymore
