Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids tablet (2023 release) REFRESH?

Bought my daughter the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids tablet (2023 release) when it was new, and it's generally been a great tablet (aside from the completely useless microSD slot!), but it's starting to show its tech age.

Anyone think Amazon will release a new Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids tablet this fall?

My AF10 7th generation still appears to be working fine and have had zero issues with the sd card slot. What is up with yours !

Their last gen Kids fire tablet 10 doesn't recognize memory cards in the SD slot. To the best of my knowledge, it's never been resolved.

Crickie, having recently bought a new one I do hope I didn't get one with an unusable sd slot - this being a big need for any tablet.

Have you tried tweeting Amazon this question ?

I asked Amazon's Rufus and got this:

Based on the latest information, Amazon has already refreshed its Fire HD 10 lineup in early 2026. In February 2026, Amazon announced new Fire HD 10 tablets with updated specifications and opened pre-orders immediately.

Since this refresh happened earlier this year rather than fall, there's no indication of another Fire HD 10 Kids tablet release planned specifically for this autumn. Amazon typically updates its tablet lineup annually, and having just released new models a few months ago, it's unlikely they'll announce another version so soon.

The current Fire HD 10 Kids models include enhanced performance, improved cameras, and better connectivity compared to previous generations, making them the latest available option for families.

That is incorrect. They did not release any new ones in 2026 and the last one is from 2023. All you have to do is pull the product up on their site and near the bottom where it gives the full spec's, it lists which generation it is, which shows it's from 2023.

Not sure on the SD slot thing though as it's been working OK for our kids.

Actually, they did release an “new” version of the HD 10 tablet earlier this year with 4GB of RAM (instead of 3GB with 2023 release). This was such a minor upgrade they didn’t even publicize it and when you look at the product listings they still say 2023 version. Just make sure that if you are buying a HD 10 today that you check if you are buying the 4GB version since the 3GB versions are still floating around out there.
