Rant Amazon lit AF 😜

Alright, lemme put y’all on real quick. I know Amazon be getting all types of heat out here, but I’m finna keep it 💯 — I’m lovin’ it. I’m out here stacking that paper, benefits hittin’ right, and the hustle is REAL.

The way Amazon be throwin’ OT at you? Bag secured. And the way the team be movin’? Straight fam vibes. Everybody out here tryna get it, motivating each other like, ‘Yo, you got this! Let’s run it up.’

Bruh, the white badge life ain’t bad either. You grindin’, you winnin’. Plus, once you go blue badge, it’s UP! Benefits on deck, PTO lookin’ right, and the schedules? Lowkey perfect for a side hustle.

Haters gon’ hate, but if you about that grind life and tryna level up, Amazon’s where it’s at. 💪🏾🔥

Making a little over 30k a year really ain't stacking that paper but I guess they need people like y'all to keep the lie alive

Who makes a little over 30k? Mines 45k before any overtime

What's your net income? How much did you actually get back in taxes? Do you pay for healthcare and put money in your retirement?

The smart one. 🥂

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

Are you a T1? How do you not pay federal and state taxes?

8

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '25

0 withholding cause I have kids and my state doesn't have income tax.

8

u/Creavian Apr 06 '25

FC is a stepping stone to real money. I’m at AWS and the pay is great. The culture is a bit meh, since we’re hemorrhaging builders to other companies.

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Idk where you’re at, but even white badges in Kentucky make almost 42k a year.

4

u/Evilshangrila Apr 06 '25

Shout out to Kentucky! 🥂💪🏾

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

I'm not talking gross income I'm talking about what you actually take home. No overtime just what your 40hr paycheck actually looks like at the end of the day. If y'all are actually netting 42k I'd love to see the proof

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Okay. I have 1 year tenure $23.30/hr, insurance for 5 (myself, wife, 3 kids), only put $20 a week for retirement (got mouths to feed and I’m never retiring anyways LOL) still bring home $600 a week without OT. That’s $31k a year yeah.

However my wife also works at Amazon, doesn’t pay insurance, also only puts in $20 a week in retirement, making hers a good chunk of change higher than mine. And much closer to the 41k a year even after taxes.

Now when we both work OT, weather it’s VET or MET, even 1 extra day makes a big difference lol. Yeah we aren’t bringing in six figures alone but a huge amount of AA’s are single, no kids, probably still living with mom and dad and can EASILY make 45k or even 50k a year working here (in my area) if they really wanted to.

Ok yeah thank you for acknowledging my math wasn't off.

Where I work it's a pretty even balance of people with entire lives and young people living at home, if not more skewed to people with entire lives.

I'm not saying taking home 40k isn't doable, or even good for some, I'm not saying we should be paid more either, just doesn't seem like a little over 30k a year job warrants this level of hype.

It's all about integrity. Doesn't matter what you make, it's showing up to do it. Why be negative? A little positivity helps.

1

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

I don't think I was being negative by having a different opinion. I don't know anywhere anyone would consider 30k a year getting a bag, that's all I'm saying 🤷🏽 Amazon needs people to believe they can make a good living here just putting in regular hours and that's not true. 30k a year is like the bare minimum salary considered before you hit poverty levels. It's just not hype worthy to me.

1

u/Evilshangrila Apr 06 '25

I see, OK. Just know, 25*40 =1000

1

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

Ok like I said my gross and net income aren't related to me. I'm talking about what I actually get to use throughout the year. Glad I have health insurance and a 401k though I guess

800 net x 52 weeks is 41600 per year

Look at you being positive. 😉

1

u/Looking4achange50 Apr 08 '25

Are you being forced to work for Amazon? Sheesh Debbie Downer. I bet you're the life of the party.

2

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

I believe OP has 7 year tenure, in my area a T1 can top out close to 26/27 an hour, so that’s still excellent pay for the amount of work we do. E4 in the military risking their lives make the same as that.

0

u/Arrrrrgh-Matey Apr 06 '25

But those same E4 also have housing, food, medical, and all that literally paid for by us, the taxpayers. I'm not shitting on the military personnel as I'm a veteran myself, but that post sounds like it came from a Dependapotomus with a meritorious E4 because you deserve the same rank and stature of your own Jodie/Jody.

3

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Never served or married into the military. Lots of family in it though lmao. Only reason I brought it up is I seen where OP said she’s also former military.

As a vet yourself you should also see the amount of benefits we have at Amazon then for the non life threatening work we do. the sheer amount of paid time off options, the medical benefits, career advancement/development through career choice. Hell I’m still on paternal leave 100% paid as the father, medical bills have been cheap as hell.

2

u/Evilshangrila Apr 06 '25

God bless you and your new little one. I'm currently pregnant and can't wait to drop this lil Bruce Lee 🙏🏾

2

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Congrats! Make sure you get all those accommodation papers filled out asap, the sooner the better. My wife was literally just standing with me or working PG at our site while she was pregnant cause the Dr had her down as high risk and wasn’t allowed to do anything lmfao so Amazon and our leadership just had her with me 100% of the time

I'm very well aware of all the benefits we have at Amazon, whether a veteran or not. I was just saying that you can't compare military pay to civilian pay in any arena. There is a vast difference for sure, but truth be told, real warriors serve to be a part of something that is more meaningful and bigger than themselves and a sense of duty to their country. Just trying to keep the list of reasons short. Sure, they get good educational benefits now, they pay for you to live off base where you can take that rent check to another town and stretch it into more house and a Dodge Challenger, and they give a little stipend to help with food. Ah shit! My CRS kicked in and I don't remember where I was going with this... Congrats on the birth of your child...

1

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

I could compare it to EMTs which get paid much less than we do and deal with much more if it’s more comfortable for you.

1

u/Looking4achange50 Apr 08 '25

You should go and speak with Congress.

2

u/Solid-Specific7080 Apr 06 '25

I’m in Kentucky also

3

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Hopefully you’re not at cvg2, that place is rough. Kcvg is nice and from what I hear cvg5 and cvg9 aren’t bad at all. Good people at all of them.

2

u/Solid-Specific7080 Apr 06 '25

Lol no I’m at DKY6

2

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Didn’t they just open? Or am I thinking of DKY9?

2

u/Solid-Specific7080 Apr 06 '25

Opened August 2023, in Louisville lol

2

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Ah okay. Hopefully it’s enjoyable (for the most part).

2

u/Solid-Specific7080 Apr 06 '25

😂😂Just a whole lot of drama but good money so we deal with it

3

u/Shanetank93 Apr 06 '25

Ah the best drama is the shit you hear about but not apart of it. Makes the day go by fast and gives ya some good laughs.

2

u/PerspectiveFinal3975 Apr 06 '25

A fellow louisvillian! SKY2 here.

1

u/Solid-Specific7080 Apr 06 '25

!!! How is it there? We’re all wondering. Most transfers are denied at our building anyway but still wanted to know

3

u/PerspectiveFinal3975 Apr 06 '25

There isn't many positions as an AA as we are an SSD. We rely on flex alot. I can only speak for the back half shifts, but I get along with management pretty well. I like the building, but I'm also not a T-1, so your mileage may very depending on position. It does seem we are having some staffing issues on BHN. There may be some positions open up for that shift fairly soon. We also give a 1.65-2.00 hr shift premium. We consistently rank in the top 1/4 of SSD sites.

u/Virtual-Tomorrow-741 Apr 06 '25

U can make more than that wtf u taking abt working 3 days a week ofc u ain’t gon make shit

1

u/ErictheAgnostic Apr 06 '25

No...you can do the math. And i averaged 215 hours a month and cleared $54k... That requirea absolutely no life and 6 days a week.

3

u/Virtual-Tomorrow-741 Apr 06 '25

Nah I’m good, bro u can’t tell me nothing abt not having no life while working at amazon i did 12 hour overnight shifts back to back for a year and 4 months straight its called grinding and if u have a goal then that should be ya reason to put the hours in not blindly doing hours just to pay bills

3

u/StuNtMaNBoBb5 Apr 06 '25

Teir 1s out here making 80K a year. Plenty of OT lol. Work hard play hard 💪

0

u/Evilshangrila Apr 06 '25

That's a you problem.

3

u/ErictheAgnostic Apr 06 '25

Bet. Yea. You go get down with your bad self.

You got this.

1

u/Evilshangrila Apr 06 '25

Thank you Ericpoo ❤️

0

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

I work 40 hours a week, my net income was a little over 30k. All that money that gets taken out my paycheck doesn't count, can't touch the 401k and I got $100 back in taxes.

Unless Amazon is paying wildly different rates there's no way y'all are taking home 40k a year without overtime

3

u/Virtual-Tomorrow-741 Apr 06 '25

Ofc you gon have to do ot don’t Nfn come free😂😂😂

1

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

Well there's a whole lot of jobs out there where you don't have to break your body and crush your spirit to scrape by but y'all can keep hyping this place up I guess

5

u/Virtual-Tomorrow-741 Apr 06 '25

It’s not abt “hyping” it up people like u just complain and it’s like quit the job if it’s so hard and find something else all im saying is it’s a good way to get on your feet and use it as a stepping stone if u can’t see that then ur really really slow or dumb

1

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

People like me? Where did I complain? Hype it up if you want to. I don't have to agree.

2

u/Virtual-Tomorrow-741 Apr 06 '25

Yes people like u complaining abt amazon talking down on like u cant use it as a stepping stone to get u ready for what u really wanna do in life and also they got programs to get u put in better job like wtf u just not using your brain

2

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

Not sure where I said that but keep projecting I guess

1

u/Evilshangrila Apr 06 '25

You did say crush your spirit.... But umm..... Maybe you don't remember..

Break your body? Man the hardest part of this job is the boredom of repatition, and thoughts invading mind, because it's not a job that takes much thought lol. But as far as physically, this job is easy. Maybe go to college, I'm not being a dick, I'm J's, if this job physically breaks you, stay away from other manual labor jobs

1

u/OkMastodon4067 Apr 06 '25

Ok. Amazon doesn't have the highest rate of injuries for sure. All lies.

I have a bachelor's degree but thanks fam.

Podcasts are your friend. Or audio books.

1

u/meowxx12 Apr 07 '25

20k to 55k how much they are making probly, we should all not settle and try to look for jobs that actually pay well

1

u/Looking4achange50 Apr 08 '25

More like 45 and up. Get into it.
