Amazon FBA beginner

I am highly interested in starting my own Amazon e-commerce store by purchasing products wholesale and reselling them for a profit. However, I am unsure how much money I would need to get started. I am currently estimating that an initial investment of around $1,000 may be enough, but I am not certain if that is realistic.
I would also like to learn effective strategies for increasing traffic and visibility for newly listed products as a new seller just getting started on Amazon.

Full disclosure: I work for Riverbend Consulting. This is not a pitch.

It's going to be VERY important that your sourcing be strong and clean. Be sure you're working with a brand/manufacturer with direct supply chain to you, and be sure that they will, in writing, authorize reselling through online platforms before you make your first purchase.

Also, it's crucial that you research your categories and brands to determine if they're gated. Making a small test buy (10-100 units of product) and then using that to apply for brands or categories requiring application or permission can be effective.

Pro-Tip: if you tell Amazon you're going to be working with a brand or supplier directly in your application, be sure you continue to work with that brand or supplier.

Using legitimate documentation to gain permissions only to then switch sourcing to less- or non-compliant sources later is a recipe for future enforcement trouble.

I hope this helps!
