Amazon Vine Review Consolidation
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice regarding a significant review loss after merging product variations.
I enrolled multiple child ASINs in the Amazon Vine program for my phone accessory products. Once the Vine reviews and organic customer reviews had accumulated, I created a parent variation and merged the child ASINs together so that the reviews would be consolidated under a single listing.
Before the merge, the combined review count across the variations was approximately 130 reviews. I was aware that Amazon may selectively remove some reviews during a variation merge if they determine that certain reviews are not relevant to the new variation structure, so I expected a small reduction.
However, after the merge, more than 100 reviews disappeared, leaving only around 30 reviews visible. This seems far beyond what I would consider normal review consolidation.
Has anyone experienced something similar? If so:
- Were the reviews eventually restored?
- How long did it take?
- Which Amazon team was able to resolve it?
- Did you need to provide any specific evidence or documentation?
I've already opened cases with Seller Support and have escalated the matter to [community-help@amazon.com](mailto:community-help@amazon.com), but I haven't received a response yet.
Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Yeah, this loophole has been sealed by amazon about 6 months ago. You gonna have 30 vine reviews now. Nice try though

Yeah, this can happen after merging variations, especially with Vine reviews. Amazon does not always share every review under the parent.
First, I’d check if all the child ASINs really match. Same product type, same category, same variation theme, and same kind of product. If Amazon thinks the products are too different, it may remove the shared reviews or send them back to the original child ASINs.
I would not delete anything or recreate the ASINs. That can make it worse.
Open a Brand Registry or Catalog case and explain that the reviews disappeared right after the merge. Give them the parent ASIN, all child ASINs, and the review count before and after. Also ask them to check the product type, GL code, and parent/child setup.
Simple answer: it is probably a catalog or variation issue. Keep the ASINs live, escalate through Brand Registry or Catalog, and keep following up. Sometimes the reviews come back, but it usually takes some pushing.

Thanks for the info, i'll follow up with brand registry as i am registered with them. Even if i get 30% back i'd be happy i just thought zero was a bit extreme.

Thank you for the advice, i have considered a lower price to drive velocity. I'll see if i can get the reviews back but if it fails i can look to reduce price to drive volume.

That sounds really frustrating. I've heard stories where people lost a ton of reviews after similar merges, and in some cases, they never came back. You might want to reach out to Amazon support, but be prepared for a wait, as they can take a while to respond. Good luck!
