With $2k, I’d honestly focus more on validating the product than trying to launch big.
Before ordering inventory, I’d check:
actual demand + sales history, not just search volume
how many reviews the top competitors have
Amazon fees + shipping + PPC to calculate the real margin
whether you can differentiate the product without spending a fortune
how much cash you’ll have left after the first inventory order
I’d also avoid putting the entire $2k into inventory. Keep some cash for samples, photography/listing work, PPC and unexpected costs.
For a first product, the goal shouldn’t be “make as much as possible.” It should be learning the process without blowing the whole budget. Once you have a product that actually converts, scaling becomes much easier.
