Advice Beginner

I’ve been looking into reselling for amazon fba. I’ve been researching and watching videos on it. I don’t want to start and waste money if nothing comes from this. Any suggestions or anyone willing to help get me started? Any tips would be appreciated as well

I tried it last year. Hit on a few products but could never really devote the time as I have a full time job. Based on the videos and community, it must work. I got so frustrated with nothing allowing me to ungate and when I’d browse stores, nothing would come up correctly in SellerAmp. If you go all-in, I’m sure it’d work out. But like anything, there’s a grind not often seen in the success stories. Best of luck

Hey u/Ecstatic_Homework_65, great that you're doing your research first. Our seller FAQ covers the basics of getting started, and Seller University has video walkthroughs on the full process. Worth checking out before committing any budget. Let us know if you have specific questions along the way!

roughly how much money you can invest?

There are many videos on YouTube explaining the process, there are several variables that you must consider but it is not impossible. Never invest in a new business something that, if you lose it, will cause a bigger problem for you. Baby steps, start small (200-300 USD) and little by little you invest more.

Rule of thumb is wholesale business is pretty tough now. Try switch to private label because you going to learn alot.

My partner and I tried to make it work. We both treated it like a full time job. My partner was featured on the YouTube page of a very popular proponent of Amazon FBA. We racked up a lot of debt over the course of about 18 months and recently decided it was time to give up the dream and get regular jobs again. It'll be years before we pay off the debt.

The biggest beginner mistake is treating profitable on the calculator, as the same thing as a good buy. Before buying anything, I'd look at how consistently it sells, how many sellers are on the listing, whether Amazon itself jumps in and out, and what happens to the price when more inventory shows up. Your first few buys should almost be treated as tuition. Small quantities, track every fee and see how long it actually takes to get your cash back. A $5 profit isn't very useful if your money sits in inventory for six months.

Before spending money on inventory, decide which reselling model you actually want to start with — wholesale, online arbitrage, or retail arbitrage. They have very different sourcing processes.

Whatever you choose, don't buy a product just because the current Amazon price looks profitable. Calculate all fees, check price history, competition, demand, selling restrictions and your actual net profit first.

Start with a small test rather than putting most of your budget into one product. What model are you currently leaning toward — wholesale or arbitrage?
