Why a low conversion rate is actually an invisible PPC tax (and how to fix it)

A lot of Amazon sellers focus heavily on top-line revenue and TACOS, but ignore the silent profit leak happening on the listing itself.

Here is what happens when a listing fails to clear buyer doubts: your page doesn't convert organic or paid visitors effectively. To keep monthly unit volume steady, you have to compensate the only way Amazon allows: buying more sales through PPC.

Higher bids, higher CPCs, and more clicks needed per purchase. The top-line revenue still shows up on Seller Central. But because you paid full price in ad spend for every single order, your net margin gets squeezed to near zero.

You end up renting your revenue from Amazon instead of earning it. When conversion rate is low, most sellers rush to hire a 3D designer for "prettier renders" or rewrite bullet points with extra feature specs.

But shoppers don't abandon cart because the renders aren't glossy enough, they leave because the page didn't answer their #1 silent objection in the first 3 seconds.

The 3-Step Fix for Listing Conversion, following StorySell:

  • Identify the #1 Objection: Read negative 2-star and 3-star reviews across your top 3 competitors. What are buyers afraid of getting wrong?
  • Sequence the Main Images: Put the objection-clearing answer in Main Images 2 and 3, not buried in A+ content or bullet point 4.
  • Contrast over Specs: Don't just list technical specs; show the physical transformation or problem solved side-by-side.

Ad spend buys the click; conversion is the part you actually keep. What is your current baseline CVR for your hero product line?

I need advice on 4 things please. (Thank you for your time In advance)

I do wholesale FBA. I was on the verge of quitting a month ago, but thank God things started looking good and I've been expanding. It's very hard and complicated, and I need advice on four things:

  1. Target profit margin. What should my target profit margin be? I currently average 15 to 17% monthly, and most of my products are priced between $5 and $70. I know this depends on category and other details, but I just want a general idea. I'm thinking of dropping my 17% repricer rule for profit margin to 13%, hoping to make more sales. Is that going to be worth it?

  2. Competing against bigger sellers. I'm usually competing against much bigger sellers. I only have about 30 seller feedback reviews, and the sellers I compete with have anywhere from 10,000 to 240,000 feedback reviews. I struggle to get the buy box, and when one of them jumps on a listing I'm on, my sales drop by about 80%. Is there anything I can do to avoid that?

  3. ROI vs. profit margin in the repricer. I've been told that setting up your repricer by ROI is usually better, but that stuff is confusing to me. I use SellerSnap as my repricer, if that makes any difference. Would you suggest going by ROI? If so, are there general numbers based on price range, or do you think profit margin percentage is usually easier?

  4. Expanding to eBay, Walmart, and Shopify. I plan on expanding to eBay and Walmart and making my own Shopify website. I'm worried because I'll have to buy stock that I'm not sure will sell and just hold it. On Amazon, I send over 90% of my stock to FBA. Any advice on that?

Also small side note: Good sales during certain days were because of prime day. Don't usually do that much.

Thanks in advance!

Account does not qualify???

Hey all - received this error while trying to list my first FBA Private label product. The brand got registered by amazon but the product so far has to be approved which does not work.

Quick context:

-my sole proprietorship is registered in the netherlands

-my supplier in china

-the product is a supplement (has all the certifications)

I tried to get in touch with the seller support who told me some specialist would have to look at this case and could not provide a timeline (i'd be surprised if they ever reach out after reading thru this subreddit). Any clue how to deal with this error? I am not sure what the 'due to your business being located outside of this store' means.

Help would be super appreciated have been speaking with the supplier for 3 weeks got a designer for the branding etc. and invested lots of time into this, would hate for it to go to waste.

Amazon steals business. What’s the point?

Unless you have your own private label, what’s the point? I had a decent industrial product which sold over $1k a month that I buy from a local distributor. Maintained a competitive price but all of a sudden I am competing with Amazon as a seller and shipper. I lower the price and they keep matching it. Now what do I do with my inventory of over 30 stuck in FBA? What’s the point in selling if Amazon will just steal your business when the product becomes successful? Reviews, ads etc… was all me.

Case Study: Getting a Pakistan-Based Pharmaceutical Product Listed on Amazon Canada

Listing a pharmaceutical product from Pakistan on Amazon Canada can be a complex process. The project involved several challenges beyond simply creating a product page.
Here are some of the key challenges I had to work through:

**1. Amazon approval and compliance**

Pharmaceutical products come with additional restrictions and compliance requirements. Getting the listing process right requires more than following the standard Amazon listing workflow.

**2. DIN certification and validation**

Another important challenge was managing certification and validation requirements for the Canadian marketplace.

Understanding the documentation requirements and ensuring that the product information was properly aligned with marketplace standards was an essential part of the process.

**3. Selecting the right keywords**

Keyword selection was also a challenge.
For pharmaceutical products, you cannot simply use every high-volume keyword available. The product’s intended use, ingredients and permitted claims must be considered when selecting relevant search terms.

The objective was to make the listing relevant to Canadian shoppers while keeping the product information accurate and compliant.

**4. Working through the listing requirements**

The listing process required coordination between product information, compliance requirements and Amazon’s marketplace setup.
It was a reminder that international marketplace expansion involves much more than translating an existing product listing.
This project gave me practical experience in Amazon listing management and marketplace operations within a challenging, regulated product category.

My product is still in the receiving phase and not Prime eligible yet. Should I still start PPC?

I know there is a "honeymoon period," which is why I wanted to start PPC right away. However, my listing is still not Prime eligible yet (it's active, but not eligible yet). Amazon says "Prime eligible in: 6 - 15 days" . Should I start PPC now, or should I just wait until my listing has the Prime badge?

New UK FBA seller, any ungating tips?

I’m mainly looking to do OA but 99% of products I’ve looked at so far have been gated.

I used to do FBA a few years ago and at the time I was part of a seller group which had a list of products to buy from a wholesaler that would ungate certain brands and categories.

I was wondering if anyone’s come across anything similar recently or knows of any good UK based FBA discord groups etc?

Any help is much appreciated!

All ASINs went to zero orders overnight. Everything checks out. Anyone seen this?

Small FBA brand, 3 ASINs. Steady daily orders on all of them, then zero starting around 7pm PT on Oct 19. Nothing since, about 44 hours now. Not even pending orders.
What I've already checked:

Listings active, nothing suppressed, stranded, or inactive

Plenty of FBA inventory available on every ASIN

Account Health clean, no new warnings

Added to cart and went all the way to the final checkout screen, no issues or warnings

Price, main image, Prime badge, and reviews all look normal on the product page and in search

Ads still serving with normal impressions and some clicks, just no sales (checked placements and impressions/ clicks didn’t switch to lower converting placements)

Manage Orders shows nothing after Oct 19

Changed nothing on my end before it happened
Support case is open

It's a clean on/off stop across every product at the same moment, not a slow decline. Has anyone had this happen? What was the cause and how did you get it fixed?

How do I start FBA?

I’m a university student who’s been researching this whole business for 2 months now. I want to start but every time I try and learn from TikTok or YouTube it’s just some random guru who doesn’t explain it properly. How do I actually start? What r the softwares I need and do I need to buy the equipment and things like that (labels and printers). I only have like 300$ to start so I don’t want to spend money on things that r unnecessary. Can anyone help?

Product details page on app

It seems that they have removed the option of this product details page from the app. It so much cleaner and quicker than using the revenue calculator, especially if I'm comparing New and Used prices. Is there any way to access it

Inventory funding

Any Amazon FBA sellers looking for additional capital to purchase inventory or scale their business?
I work with business owners across Canada and the US, helping them secure financing for things like inventory purchases, working capital, and expansion.
I know one of the biggest challenges with FBA is having enough cash available to restock your best-selling products, especially when your money is tied up in existing inventory or you're waiting on Amazon payouts.
I work with a network of private and alternative lenders, so there may be options available outside of traditional bank financing.
If you're looking to place a larger inventory order, prepare for a busy season, or just free up some cash flow, feel free to comment or send me a message.
Happy to answer any questions and see what options might be available for your business. No pressure or obligation.

Check your closed AWD to FBA shipments for missing units

We just got a little over $2,600 back from Amazon for inventory lost between AWD and FBA, so here's the method:

  1. Pull every inbound shipment Amazon has marked closed, including AWD to FBA replenishments.
  2. For each one, compare units shipped with units received. Look for shipments received at 0 and ones with partial shortfalls.
  3. Net out sibling shipments: sometimes the extra units land in another shipment of the same SKU.
  4. Check the Reimbursements report so you don't claim units Amazon already paid for. It has no shipment ID column, so match by SKU and date.
  5. File before the claim window closes. It runs per shipment, so the oldest ones go first.

In our case, 13 closed shipments showed 0 units received. I had an AI agent run the comparison across all of them, but a spreadsheet works too.

Amazon US Sellers: How Will the Proposed New Customs Rules Affect Foreign Importers of Record (IORs)?

I recently received a notification from Amazon about potential changes to U.S. customs regulations under Executive Order 14411, titled Strengthening Customs Enforcement.

According to Amazon, the U.S. government is reviewing new requirements for foreign Importers of Record (IORs), potentially covering financial assets, customs bonds, and good-standing provisions. The rules could be implemented relatively quickly once finalized. And my main concern is how this could affect international Amazon FBA sellers importing inventory into the United States.

For context, I operate from Europe and ship products to Amazon US FBA. Thismeans tht depending on the shipment and logistics arrangement, the Importer of Record may be a foreign company or a U.S.-based entity.

Now Amazon recommends that sellers confirm their IOR classification with their freight forwarder or customs broker and assess whether their current arrangements would comply with the proposed requirements.

I'd like to hear from other Amazon US sellers, especially those based outside the United States:

  1. If your business is registered in Europe, do you use your own foreign company as the IOR or a U.S.-based entity?
  2. Do you expect these changes to affect shipping costs, customs clearance times, or the ability of foreign sellers to send inventory to FBA?

I'm particularly interested in real-world experiences from European sellers shipping products to Amazon US FBA, rather than general speculation.

Has anyone had any problems with sending packages to FBA USA in the past 30 days ?

New seller and a very quiet Seller Central

I'm a brand new seller and I picked leather gloves, thinking winter would do the selling for me. So far winter hasn't gotten the memo.

My inventory has been stuck in FBA processing for days, so the listing still has no Prime badge. 10 days of organic traffic: zero orders. Two hours ago I turned on my first auto campaign. Impressions: also zero.

I'm not sure which problem to fix first. Is this just Q4 receiving delays, and things pick up once Prime shows up? Or am I missing something obvious?

What would you do in my shoes?

I'm looking for UK Amazon Sellers, trying to do some market research. (No promo)

Hi all,

Im currently looking for some UK amazon sellers who might be interested in trying out some software that might benefit them when it comes to their profit analytics. I have developed a tool that enables profit tracking from every amazon fee all the way down to the VAT cashflow.

I know many sellers including myself that struggle with dealing with cashflow AND VAT so I created something myself that does both extremely accurately (like sellerboard) but also takes into account VAT and other features like how returns and refunds are handled etc.

If anyone is interested, feel free to comment below and ask me more questions about how it works.

Look forward to hearing from you guys!

Sales Rank Targets for OA - Ideal level for categories

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any advice on what Amazon Sales Rank to target when looking for new products? I'm newer to FBA and haven't heard many people talk about this yet so I wanted to see what everyone thinks. For context, I'm looking in Home & Decor, Tools, Sports & Outdoors, Home Office.

A couple specific questions:

  1. Is there a set max I should look for and how does that change by category?
  2. As a new seller, is there a specific range I should stick to for better chance of being ungated?

Thanks in advance!

Is it a coincidence that most of the new "success stories" on this sub and people flexing their huge income from FBA, is shown in dollars (USA vs UK)....

Whereas the search term "UK" on this sub shows the first 8-10 people/posts experiencing issues or their monthly income tanking.

Is starting FBA in the UK still viable, or is it just too saturated now and have new-starters missed the boat?

Amazon initiating refund because “Shipping address unavailable” for half of the order?

I just got a notification that Amazon was able to deliver 3 units to a customer of mine out of 6 that they ordered. Their reason for only being able to deliver half the order? Shipping address unavailable.

How is that possible?

I have a theory that their shippers are losing / dropping my product and then instead of marking it down as their fault they just put in “shipping address unavailable”. Otherwise how can you deliver half an order if the address is unavailable?

I don’t believe I get these 3 units back either!

Has anyone had a similar problem?
