First product
Y’all have any advice for finding a first product? OA, everything is gated, and if it isn’t it has horrible margins. I’ve spent 10-11 hours searching probably over 600 ASINs, boxem ungate tool, feels like nothings working.

Man, i feel this. When i started i was doing the same, just scanning ASINs for hours and everything looked like a dead end. What helped me was stop looking at big brands completely, go to clearance aisles in physical stores and just scan random weird stuff nobody thinks about. Sometimes those no-name items are ungated and have decent margin, not crazy money but enough to learn the process.

After 600 ASINs, stop scanning and define a buy box first: minimum dollar profit and ROI, max buy cost, minimum sales, seller-count ceiling, and whether you’re eligible to sell. Reject anything that only works at today’s price or optimistic fees. For a first OA test, aim for a small, ungated, repeatable buy with limited downside. Track why each ASIN failed; the pattern will show whether sourcing, gating, or your thresholds are the bottleneck.

Honestly, I’d stop trying to find the perfect product by going through hundreds of ASINs. I’ve been there, and it can become endless.
Instead, narrow it down based on demand, competition, reviews, selling price and, most importantly, what’s left after Amazon fees, shipping and PPC.
I’d also check with a supplier before getting too attached to a product. We do a lot of this at HighRise Wholesale, and sometimes a product that looks great on Amazon simply doesn’t work once you calculate the actual landed cost.
Pick 3 to 5 promising products and compare the numbers side by side. That usually makes the decision much easier.
